it is 36 degrees this morning in chicago land and what a wonderful siting this morning! mr and mrs mallard duck are swimming on the cover of my pool!!!!!!!! yeah! spring is definately here when that happens
i wonder if those birds mate for life like people have told me, last year she put a nest in the back yard right by the patio door, guess what? i have 3 dogs! not a good selection mommy duck, what did i do? i played surrogate mother for an entire month, she laid the eggs around the time my son graduated from highschool which was june 6th, the babies hatched the day i went away to rehab july 10th, i had prayed that i would see them leave before i left since i had babied them all month and God is soooo good because they hatched the morning i left!
so what i had to do was constuct this makeshift chicken wire fence and when the dogs came out to do their business, i would have to surround the nest with this fence and then when the dogs went inside i took the fence down, it seemed like she never left the nest at all, i wondered how she ate or drank. i did accidentally scare her a few times where she got upset and flew into the pool, i thought she would never return to the nest but thank God she did, she was a very good duck mommy. so i did this the entire month of june and the results were well worth my efforts as she had around 7 beautiful, adorable baby ducklings! so as i look out my window this morning i am wondering if that is the same mommy? i hope she doesnt decide to nest there again though.
here is a dilema i have every year, momma bunny always has her babies underneath my phlox plants and i have now realized that this is her favorite place every year, that is fine and dandy with me BUT every year i have to see this pitiful scenario of dead baby bunnies and fluffy fur all over the yard as my dogs kill them every year! i was wondering if i could do the fence thing with her too or somehow deter her from nesting there any ideas anyone? jewels

Its rainy here in NY but I just cant be down.My job called (gosh that feels great to say)& I get first pick of hours.I swear talking to my boss I got tears in my eyes!I NEVER thought this day would come my way again!!!
As for your duckys..If I remember right most Fowl will mate for life,I know swans do,geese do ect

Goos morning lovely ladies!
It's sunny and going to be an outside playday for little man. Probably in the 70's today. I do love spring in LA, my favorite season. Only downside is a muddy driveway, but that's where Kenny is going to hit first...lol.
Dr appt for Dylan today and this dang crud is just now starting to go to my chest. In the middle of a Z pack, hope this cuts it. Dylan has sore throat and hoarse, but he's happy cause he loves to fall asleep to the sound of the vaporizer.
Y'all know we are going through some adjustments at the house. Jana and Kenny are sleeping with the futon mattress on the box spring that Tyler left. Not sure if Jana will have a bed or not, and hoping to bring Kenny's toddler bed. Biggest problem is leaving him alone upstairs, because of the stairs...I'm sure Jana and I are going to be fending off quite a few heart attacks as he decides to run perilously toward the top of them.
Hope you have a good day! I'm not sure how much longer I will have to stay on the pc. Going to have to rework my pc schedule cause I have to put it up and away now, no more leaving it on the table.

Yup, I do like to see his face. I am trying to make myself adjust to letting his Mama take care of him, he needs her to be the big boss. You get used to doing it all when they are around, but I need to make boundaries.
Gotta get going, making a roast in the crockpot and I will have to shut my pc down and put it away.
