Well, i'm now coming up on 11 months sober "april 12th". I have posted on here off and on thru my recovery. Getting close to that 1 year mark "never thought i'ld get this far". I was on methadone 8 months but, got off it. Recently I decided to do 40mg of methadone with my lil brother "active addict" I vomited for hours whoo hoo it was so crappy. That has killed my desire to even try to do a lil hit again. I had been up to 130mg of methadone so I thought I could do 40mg no problem, but no! I am glad I got sick and could not sleep it was a bit of a wake up. I never got sick b4 on the methadone but, I guess my tolerence is down. I know it was foolish to even do the methadone. Here in the US we call smack, "dogfood" I was wondering if the UK uses that term? I read another post on here about terms that just kinda came to mind.

You got sick huh...wow.....yeah it's great in a way.....don't temp that tolerance though...I know if i do any little thing and see my tolerance down...it would be all over for me....plus it gets right back to where we left off real quick.

Dogfood is too good a term....you say dope and people think you mean weed other places.....the brown....the s*it is what it is, and not in the good way everybody uses that term now.....nasty addiction....the smell of it getting out of the body right now crossed my mind........ewwwww.

Bryn well, i'm in ohio but, i've heard dogfood in other states also. Sometimes it's just shortin to dog. 130MG was terrible coming down from. I went down 10mg a week the clinic says to do 2mg a week. It was so hard to get to the clinic it was 2 States away in Indiana 45min drive in no traffic one way. I would prefer to still be going but, it was a major hardship getting transportation. Bruce I know it was a relasp i'm kicking my self 4 it to. I keep saying it was not a needle it was not tar but, I know it could have been. When you've spent more years of your life using some kind of drug then you've spent sober it feels unnatural to not injest something crappy. So I can only say 11months no smack I guess, 2 weeks sober. That one lil screw up cost a lot mentally. Thanks 4 the replys

Fair play on ur clean status. keep up the good work. I've never heard of "dogfood" but when i speak 2 my girlfriend while 1 of us is at work I usually say " can u go foodshopping" or " going 2 get breakfast" if we want some gear. Another favourite would b " i'm goin 2 c my mate bobby, or barry " as in-bobby - brown- and barry-white-.Brings back memories.Yep.... some of the memories from back then r good. It's just most r bad. Good 2 b clean. ...Well.....on a script at least.

Yeah!!!! We use 'tackle' aswell although i think it's a scouse or northern term cos all northern people i know that live down south use it.

I personally found Methadone to be really insiduous- & the attitude of the folks @ the clinics: "The GOVERNMENT'S yr Dealer now! You WILL give us a clean Urine Sample or Else!" Wow, ok, Sieg Heil, Baby. Strange how they say it "gets in yr Bones" Have heard that is an old wives tale but you know what I craved most when I got off it was milk-Coffee flavoured, plain, chocolate, With Kahlua (Picture this: Me, ratty, sweating, 4am, a ball of cramps, sitting on the floor gulping Kahlua & milk,smoking like a chimney, cursing the Nazis & Herman Goering, who INVENTED methadone--FYI)Worse & WAY WAY longer than any dope chill out Ive done. Like, I'd say a year before I could DO things, like say tie my shoe, w/o thinking "Oh, God I have to bend over & make my fingers work how does it go?" Just agony, deep muscular agony for the longest time. NEVER AGAIN!! Oy!
AlASKA I had another post about how the methadone clinic counsler only cared about my cash flow coming into the clinic to pay 4 the dose 380.00 a month. She was always a egar beaver to UP the dose all the time, which I took advantage of untill I started peeing blood at 130mg then decided I needed to kick that stuff to. I know about the history of the done i'm half jewish. My dad urged me not to go on it. Honestly I WOULD STILL BE USING without having went to the clinic. It was worse getting off of but, my head was more together. I love IGGY the passanger is one of my fav songs, kinda reminds me of using thou.

I went 2 school in germany for 11 years and all the history lessons concisted of was world war 2. I just thought my way of asking was a polite way of saying that goering had nothing to do with the making of methadone

lol he did in fact not create it, he was a user. It was created under nazi rule because of problems getting poppy. It's a bear to get off of. I did not sleep right for 17 days getting of it. I stoped going to the clinic at 25mg had side effects for a month but, started sleeping after 17 days off. The internet says ::Where heroin has a real advantage over methadone is in withdrawal. Withdrawal from heroin should be over after seven to ten days. Withdrawal from methadone though can take up to a month or even longer
When my grandparents got married in germany.Instead of being given a bible , they got a copy of "mein kampf" and read out of that at the wedding. Just as every other couple in germany at the time of the war. Another bit of useless info from my side of the screen.ha ha...
