Sub Expense

is it expensive to start taking sub?
Sub can be expensive. Do you have insurance? There are some clinics that have a sliding scale; but I guess that depends on where you live.
it is around $7.00 a pill!. julie
Hey addicted2oxy:

I'm new to this forum, also curious about sub, I was told to go to www.suboxone.com, but I have'nt gone there yet. Maybe it'll give you an idea of the cost. I had never even heard of sub until I came to this site last week. It seems to act like antibuse does for alcohol. The mental cravings are the worst for me. Some say it helps - others don't. I did hear that they have to wean you off of it too, I don't know if I want to use a pill to stop using a pill, but if it buys time and prevents someone from getting a buzz off opiates, maybe it's a good idea. Check out that website, and I will too. Good luck to you!
Luckily my insurance covers it,i pay $15 each month.Alot of insurances do not.

It can be expensive, but i know of a pharmacy here that will let you buy a few at a time from your script, which helps.~KIM
Along with the expense, you have to find a sub doctor to prescribe it. Sub docs have to go through specialized training in order to prescribe and there are not many compared with those that are needed. Many patients drive an hour each way in order to see a sub doc and think that the drive, while annoying, is very worthwhile, given the alternative.
.

I paid a LOT for sub, but I was involved with a great facility.

However, your screen name is addicted2oxy. This leads me to ask how much you are spending on that? Most of my oxy addiction was supplied to me at pharmacy prices, which are MUCH lower than street prices. I would get 90 of the 40mg pills for around $575. They did NOT last an entire month.

My program cost $320 for a monthly urine test, $90 to sit in a group to get the Rx, $450 for a one month supply, plus gas and time to make a 150 mile round trip once a month. Of course, the initial intake was higher because I had to have blood work done and come more frequently. So that cost was about equal to my oxy habit.

The monthly cost dropped to around $275 when they finally determined it was okay to split pills in half. When I switched to a private practice doctor the office visit was $55 and the script $275.

If you cannot find a reasonably priced private practice doctor, there are other options. For a cash paying patient, $550/month is the cost at CRC clinics, which are everywhere. Nearly all of them have suboxone now, although they used to only be methadone. The suboxone option is not advertised very often. However, they do try to get you on an every other day dosing schedule which can cut the cost in half, because you pay by the day. Most prefer to take sub every day, but most will not go into WD if they take it every other day.

If there is any possiblr way for you to pay for it, it is worth the cost.
I just want to put this info out here. Here in Ny (Im not sure about everywhere)if your on Medicade or Medicare.Meicare will not cover it(like if your disabled)I just found out that Medicade here in NY will ONLY pay for 6 mths of it.
