Suboxone Detox

hello...first time posting on this site. I am an RN. I have had multiple addictions. Opiates being the worst. I was taking 30-5/325 percocets daily, or 240 or oxy., whatever was available to me for that day. I attempted to detox. on my own, once, c/t, and after 3 mos. was still so full of anxiety and depression.

I am now on a suboxone detox. Oh I forgot to mention that I also did 2-5 day detox.'s on subutex. I felt fine after 3 days off of the subutex, and than got progressively worse again, as if I had never detoxed.

My questions are: Does detox. normally last as long as 3 mos.? Is delayed onset of withdrawal symptoms common, as in the case of my 5-day detox with subutex? And will this reoccur with the suboxone, which is a 6-8 week detox?

Thanks to the people who help me.
Hello, and welcome aboard! I have no experience with the Sub..but someone will be along soon to help you. There are some people on here that are on Sub, so you are not alone!! I just wanted to say welcome, and be patient..people must be a little busy today! Kim
Thank you MDGIRL for welcoming me. I was started to feel rejected. Half joke half truth. You know how us addicts always think the worst, especially where rejection is concerned. Have a good day.
Hi Mbfla,
I was on subutex for 6 days to detox. A couple months later I felt like I still had detox symptoms. I called my doctor and he said I could have these symptoms for a couple months but it should get better with time. I'm sorry your going through this. I will be there with you again shortly (I'm back on Norco 10). I told my husband and he want's me off. I just found a doctor in my area that can prescribe that without me going to a detox center. I don't know if this helped you at all . . . I just wanted to let you know that someone was listening. Take care and god bless

Thank you for responding. I'm not familiar with the Narco 10 drug that you mentioned. Let's keep each other posted as we detox. We can support each other. Thanks again. MBFLA
Welcome to the board. I am currently on Suboxone. I am tapering down right now I have gone from 16 to 2 within 7 weeks. So far it has been okay some days I have to take 3 or 4 depending on my day. I know that Sub is long lasting so that could be why it takes a few days for the withdraws to hit. I wish I could be more help. good luck

Norco 10 is Vicodin 10/325. I'm taking 5 to 6 a day. I will keep you posted as to my progress. I'm scared to go through detox again. I hate it! But I guess it's the price I have to pay if I play. Keep my posted on how your feeling. Thank you for your response.
Hi MB .You mentioned that you had multiple addictions . Do one of them happen to be xanax or valium? The reason I ask this is the withdrawal from these drugs apprently is signifigantly longer than that of opiates .I am by no means an expert , as I have been off Suboxone for over a month and am still feeling some minor side effects .I have been trying to figure out why I have been having these long lasting problems .I am second guessing everthing I put in my mouth , including the anti depressants . Thanks for posting , I need to see that I am not alone Welcome to the board ,Rob

Thank you for taking the time to respond back to me. Why do they even bother to do these 5 day detox's, if they don't work..Apparently they work for Heroin addicts better than for Opiate addicts. Somehow the doc's must make a difference in the detox, chemically speaking. Let's keep each other posted on our progress. Thanks again.

As I said in my previous post< I don't understand why the use this detox method of Subutex for 5 days, if it is ineffective. Heroin users apparently do fairly well with this detox, but opiates may be a whole other ball of wax. I thought I was hopeless, because after detox I was back to square one. Maybe the fact that I suffer from Depression and Panic attacks, long before I stared to use, it complicates detox. Thank you so much for responding to me. Lets stay in touch and let each other know how were doing.

I was taking 1mg of Ativan on and off, but not on a regular basis. Maybe it complicated the detox., I'm not sure. As I said to someone in a previous post, I suffer from Depression and Anxiety, long before I started using. Thanks alot for caring enough to respond. Lets keep it up. Bye
