I have been on Sub for 10 days now. I'm coming off of Vic es & Lortab anywhere from 35 -45 a day. I was at it's worst at the end of last summer, when my mom's health began to fail. But still I've been a addict using off and on for 15 + years. I am 39 y/o. So now that Iam off the vic/lortab,etc. My Dr. is giving me the sub. IHe told me that I should try to take a mx of 40mg/day. I have a bottle of 8mg pills and I take 7 - 8,possibly more, 8mg tabs a day. When I talked to my Dr about it (because iI had to buy another bottle; and it's $300.00 for 30 pills). His response was that it should be o.k., but just that the cost is so expensive. Should I be worried? Am I trading one additction for another? I do hav a lot of pain in my left hip that goes down the leg, it's not sciatica. I've seen neuros for it. It's what got me into all the vic in the first place. He (Dr) said that I might have to take more d/t the left hip and leg? can anyone give me any input on this? For the most part I feel pretty good, I do get panic attacks and can't sleep, but I try to forge ahead. I have made up my mind that I am going to get thru this, but I want to know. Please help!

Stephanie, hey! hope you're doing Ok today. Are you saying you take 56-64 mgs. a day of Sub? Those on this board who take it are usually only taking 8 mgs. a day total..... for detox purposes.
Maybe one of the sub. users will come by shortly and talk to you about this. I don't know much about Sub., but think you really need to get some advice from someone who does. Hold on, please!
If you are taking more than 32 mg then you are probably taking too much (that is the maximum prescribable dose in Australia). Some take slightly higher but 32 is a good guide because most people peak their intake at 8-16 mg.
You say you are taking 8, maybe more 8mg tablets. You are twice the recommended daily maximum and you are definitely taking too much. Please let your Dr know immediately.

Yes, I just added it all up from yesterday, because I write it all down for time and amount. I took a total of 58mg yesterday. That was 7 of the 8mg tabs and 1 of the 2mg tab. Now I'm geeting upset because my legs are killing me. My husband wants to take the kids to D&B when my little one wakes from her nap. Please give me more info. Stephanie

I take 8mg a day. I had been on 6mg a day and it was working fine.... but 6mg meant that I had to take 3 pills a day (2mg each). Going up to 8mg means that I can take 1 pill a day, cutting my cost in half.

PS - Why are your pills $300 for 30? Does that include the doctor's visit? I get my prescription at Walgreens, definitely NOT the cheapest, and for 30 8mg pills it is about $150

Stephanie, over 32mg and the sub's antagonist properties kick in and your gonna feel like hell, thats probably why you can sleep.
I would maybe get another doctors opinion on the sub, that seems like way too much and its gonna be hard to get off of that amount.

Like I said, Silent partner really knows what hes talking about, I think he is a doctor, and it sounds like alot to me as well. I started on 8mg 6 weeks ago and am down to 3mg and feel good, did your doctor prescribe this amount to you?

I'll tell ya my understanding of sub, i thought if you took too much then it kicked you into withdrawal, and it sounds like your on a hugh dose, my advice to you is go back to the doctor and tell him how you feel and how much you have been taking, i was always told with sub, less is more, if that makes any sence?
