Hi I was wondering if some of you tell me about your time on suboxone just so maybe I can prepare myself alittle.I mean going back 5-7 yrs I use to buy methodone on the street is suboxone like that??...mj
MJ, when I took the suboxone I felt normal, like I used to before I took drugs. When you go to the doctor you'll be in withdrawal and he'll give you probably a half a pill (4mg) wait 45 mins to see how you feel and then give you another dose. I have read on other message boards that the doctors are now starting you off on a lower dose, I was on 16mg my first day and that was way too much, second day I took 8mg and felt fine. After finding a stable dose you'll stay there for a few days. Now depending on the doctor and your habit; you'll eventually start to wean down.
I was only on for about 11 days because I wanted off quick, the doctor told me the average use for his patients is 6 weeks, some less, some more.
The withdrawals from sub if done properly are very minor compared to quitting other opiates. I was a little achy and tired with a runny nose for a couple of days and slowly started feeling better as I exercised and started living clean
While on sub you wont have any cravings and at the right dose you'll feel like yourself before this whole mess started.

He is still on it....he didn't start like most.....he went on after he relapsed, and was clean for like 4or 5 days so the wd he had was pretty much over by then....if you want to know something specfic let me know....He is out now with one of the girls will probably be on tonight.....He will respond!

I guess its just another bad habit to worry but its seems like I have so much to gain in this.I feel like this may be my last chance to actually be me whoever that is.I'm scared about who I'll be once I'm sober.What if I don't like me.I don't want to wine on and on but I am scared....mj

I hope so Its funny both my daughters are so happy that I did what I did.My oldest has been trying to get me to get help for years.She had a couple tears when I told her and my sweet youngest my gosh the hugs and I'm so proud of you I've gottin from her.That right there tells me I did the right thing today....mj
Ok so far so good.What can you compare its reaction to?Does it feel like a high?or does it take away the craving.Even I know that the physical part I can deal its the mental addiction I'm alittle worried.....
MJ, you wont feel high, just normal and it does take away the cravings. While your on sub you have to work a program of recovery to deal with what happens when you stop taking sub.
For me the feeling of feeling normal was great, I didnt feel like that for over 3 years. I have no desire to start using again, Im much happier sober and plan to stay that way. You'll also start feeling better about yourself for not using, you'll see.

Honestly I don't even remember what it feels like NOT to use.This scares me because I have so much to lose.And so much to gain.It doesn't feel like the methodone made me feel?...mj

You can do this.That was to sweet when you told us how your girls reacted to hearing the good news about you. That alone will give you the courage to face whatever lies ahead. I know it is a scary feeling. Like what is normal right. When you use for so many years you become a certain person with certain feelings. Then when you are clean you have a whole other side of yourself that sometimes is different. However, I really in my heart believe you will love the person you will be clean and not using anymore. You are a beautiful person inside and out. Life will only get better for you, your boyfriend and your girls now. You are on the right track to recovery and I wish you the best.
