I have just hit two weeks off the suboxone I was put on 5 months ago. I did the slow taper as instructed by the Doctor. I was sicker than I have ever been and still 14 days later slept most of today away with Zero energy. My doctor left a message that said it's not the Suboxone that is doing this....that I have to get checked out for something else that is wrong. WTF??? He insists that the Suboxone can't have this long of an effect on me. What surprises me more is he has never run across anyone who has had this problem this long. I asked if he was familiar with the information that I read EVERYWHERE that Suboxone is evil stuff and people have long horrible withdrawls. Good ole Docotor know it all calls these claims nonsense. SO WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE ME? I'm gonna go get a full blood work done this week just in case, but feel that he is totally clueless as to what he is prescribing to everyone. Yes suboxone saves some peoples lives and it has its place in the right situation. I was off OXY for 21 days when they put me on SUB. I'm beyond mad. The only reason I havent taken a oxy is I get drug tested. I don't want to use them anymore at all...but feel that I would if I could to get me thru this nitemare. Any help would be appreciated. As a side I wouldn't use the Oxy....I'm just beyond frustrated.
Dude, I am freaked now. I just started SUB....WTF?
OffOxy,
Sounds to me like your Dr is definitely clueless!!!!
I too am very frustrated over many Dr's lack of knowledge about this drug!!
SUB IS AN OPIATE DRUG AND MOST HAVE W/D'S FROM IT, JUST LIKE OTHER OPIATES!!!!!
Why don't they get it?!?!
Now if Sub is tapered well, then the w/d's are not as bad as going CT from oxy and other similar opiates, but most will still have some kind of w/d's, even with a proper taper.
In my experience, Sub w/d's are not as strong as oxy w/d's, but they tend to last much longer - depending on how long a person stays on the Sub, the dosage, previous opiate use history, metabolism, etc....
Please do NOT take oxy or any other opiate to try and help your symptoms!! It will only make it worse!!
Good luck to you!!! With time, you should get better .....
Why would you start sub after you've been off oxy for 21 days?
The only benefit that I can think of for starting sub after that many days off is to prevent relaspe however, that shouldn't be done unless you have a history of relaspe. Still, after getting that far w/o anything I'm not sure it was the best option.
I'm looking at this strictly from my experience. I have a history of relaspe. I could quit and get throught wd's, but after a while I would get back on pills because I never felt any better. Even after 5 months I still had no energy, felt aches, and generally crappy. I hated to get out of bed every day. This last time I tried sub and have been clean for almost a year. I really believe sub is what made the difference b/c it helped with cravings and I felt much better.
Having said that, I wish I could have done it ct b/c Im worried about getting off of it. I've tapered down quite a bit, but I haven't made that jump. I agree it has its place, but I think ct is the best way to go if you can stay off the pills.
I don't really know what the answer is for you, but I would not take any pills including sub. Just try to ride this out. The end will have to come at some point and you don't want to have to start all over. Stay strong!

Well the good news is I feel better today than yesterday. I still am low on energy but find if I force myself to exercise I feel much better. I am and have always been an exercise fanatic. I usually do some sort of weight lifting or cardio everyday......so not being able to do that for about two weeks has been really hard on me. I believe my body is completly confused as to what is going on.
The jump of of Sub is easy for some hard for others. I have no history of relapse as I used for a year and made myself crazy when I started to count pills and worry about withdrawls all the time. I will not go back....that is for certain. The Sub was a part of a program I did. You had to do it or you couldn't be part of the program. I was arrested for buying from a undercover cop and had to do the program to get this dropped. I have never been in trouble before,,,,but I can see first hand how these pills can take over your life. Yeah it made me superman and feel like I was on top of the world for a while, but it caught up pretty quickly and became the don't get sick game...which we all know to well.
I am hoping the the worst is over for me...I will keep you guys posted so at least you can have a reference of how long it took me to feel 100%.

That would be great to know how you are doing. I am glad you are feeling better today. They say exercise is the best thing to help in recovery!
