Subs

I also was on suboxine for about 9 months. I was going to a clinic and getting bottles at a time. When I stopped or at least tried to I felt even worse than when I came of the H. I just traded one addiction for another, everyone was talking about this little orange miracle pill. Yea it reallly helped with my withdrawls from the herion, but then I had kick the subs and that sucked.

Point to ponder!!!!!!

ALL WE ARE DOING IS CHANGING SEATS IN A PLAIN THAT IS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE GROUND
I have pondered this many times and have first hand experience of Sub. Indeed it is not a miracle drug or an easy ticket to freedom. However taken over a few weeks with supervision....for example only given out daily and having regular urine tests for opiates it can, for some, be of benefit. The idea is to stabilise a person and stop any further dangers of street drug abuse then taper taking the last few mg's down to a lower level slowly. This could even mean cutting 0.2mg tabs in half over the last few days. Along with the detox program people should take steps to busy there lives in recovery and work out stratergies for when temptation to pickup again comes there way, NA would be helpful for this.
There are many addicted to heroin ect.... who are not ready to come off yet, for whatever reason. There is some benefit of giving Sub or Meth to them to eliminate the dangers of street drugs. Sub has a handy side effect of blocking further opiate abuse but also satisfies the opiate receptors.
Another benefit Subutex/suboxone can have is for the chronic pain sufferer. I must add here that they should explore every other non narcotic avenue before this. I am in this catergery and it hurts to think I have to rely on Sub to fuction semi normaly in life. I dont see myself as "changing seats on a plain that is heading for the ground" Sub taken as prescibed under supervision can be a very affective pain killer. One must be careful not to alienate people such as me who are hanging on to some form of recovery. I know taking Sub is not taking the fundamental NA approach but I feel normal again, I dont get high anymore, I am able to work, I am pain free and my family have noticed big changes in me. I am so greatful for that.
There is also another catergory of Sub users, these unfortunate souls are the ones who seem to have fried there brains irepairably (sp) thruogh opiate abuse. Some of these can manage quite well on as low as 0.5-1mg of Sub which is fairly benign when it come to internal damage but allows them some degree of normality.
I know the post was not aimed at me and I hope you do not think I am responding in that way but I felt I could give my 2 pennies so people in the above mentioned catergories still feel ok about themseves.
Warmly
Paul
what is this suboxine, is it the same as methadone or is it something new. I don't know if we are on a plane crash or a plain ol crash, but it certainly feels that way sometimes. But there has got to be some parachutes left.
The sub is most effective when used for a short period of time. Two weeks is ideal and up to a month, after more than a month you will have withdrawals from sub. I've been on sub for 5 days now and the plan is to start weaning down after one week and be off for good at two weeks.
Most doctors will start you at 16mg or 32md a day depending on your doc habit. I started on 16mg, then went down to 8mg on day two. The quicker you can get down to 8mg the better and start weaning from there.

Good luck
