Subutex

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about using subutex for detox. it sounds a lot less intense then methadone, but i'm still skeptical. does anyone have any experience with it? or if anyone knows of a good resource that i could get information from, or someone to talk to. thanks. : )
Anna, I used it and it was great, I dont have time now to tell you more but I just bumped a thread where it was discussed earlier today...its titled a better way.

I'll try to give you more answers tomorrow if I have time

Good Night
JohnDee
thank you so much! i'd love to talk to you about your experience. i'm pretty scared about this and talking to people helps.
Hi, my name is Rachel and I used Suboxone (basically the same as Subutex) to get off of methadone. YES, definitely the better way to go. No matter how you choose to get off, some withdrawal is to be expected. But going onto Suboxone was very easy for me and getting off the Suboxone was much better than getting off the methadone. I truly don't think I would have even tried without the Suboxone, that's how much better it made it. If you can get it-GO FOR IT. If you need any more information, I'll be happy to answer. Hope you see this:)

Sincerely,
Rachel
thanks rachel! did your doctor provide councilling as well?
Anna, my doctor sets you with a counselor once your off the sub, but it is up to me to go.

Hi Anna,
I posted earlier asking about Suboxone. I have been told by my doctor that some docs give you Subutex first for only a couple of days then up you to Suboxone. I have heard that Subutex causes more withdrawal symptoms but many doctors are afraid to go straight to Suboxone. My doctor said with his experiences too many patients cannot handle the withdrawal b/f they get the Suboxone and relaspe quickly. That is why he skips it. Stay in touch I would love to exchange info on our detox experiences.
Take Care,
Mary

thanks mistyeyes. i wish you and your husband the strength to get through this, please keep me posted.
Dear Anna,

I started using the Suboxone on July 20th, 2004. I stayed on a little longer than necessary because of my chronic back problems (which also got me started on the Vicodin, then onto the Methadone, of course). Anyway, I got off of the Suboxone about a month ago (beginning of November). I tapered down as much as possible, but it basically reminded me of getting off of Vicodin. I know I'll never use Methadone again and I'm praying that I can remain strong around other opiates as well. But I do say with all honesty that I don't miss a SECOND of being on methadone. It really ruined me and now I'm completely free:) Yes, I experienced some withdrawal symptoms, but NOTHING compared to getting off the methadone. I really wish your boyfriend the best of luck, Anna. YES, Suboxone was the way to go for me:)

Sincerely,
Rachel REB
Getting ready
There seems to be a big misunderstanding with information about Subutex and Suboxone. Both drugs also contain Buprenophine but Suboxone also has Naloxone added. Thats the only difference. The Naloxone is a full opiate blocker but as it is taken sublingualy has little effect. Naloxone was only combined with Buprenorphine to form Suboxone to prevent people injecting it. Some Dr's, especially in the US, prefer Suboxone purely because it prevents people injecting it intraveinously. http://www.suboxone.com/Suboxone/ In the UK only Subutex is prescribed because Buprenorphine does both jobs anyway (partial agonist/antagonist. Hope that helps someone

The Suboxone cost my boyfriend $100.00 for the doctor's visit and $180.00 for one month's supply (30) of 8mg each.
He only used them for 3 weeks and he's been off now for 17 days.
Good luck and if you need anything - keep posting!
Take care,

hello everyone....new to this forum....just found it.

I have a question for whoever wishes to reply back with some experience with what i am going through....heres my situation...

i was on suboxone for almost a year, when suddenly my doctors refused to give me my perscrption anymore(i think it was because she had too many patients, only aloud 30 patients at a time) i became very upset , angy , etc...

anyways 2 weeks later and no pills left , here i am going through withdrawals (72 hours into it) and have no idea what to do..... i have no cravings to use! just want to know if anyone else decided or didnt have a decision about coming off suboxone, and what they may have used to ease the pain of withdrawals.
no narcotics-- just over the counter meds, etc...

need some help here ASAP.

thanks ,
forrest
Paul,
Thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!!
Given my extremely long term use, how long do you think I should be on Suboxone and is it difficult to switch over from Vicodin. Will I still have withdrawals? Also how bad are the withdrawals from the sub?
Thanks Much!!!
Mary

I posted this question in the Heroin section and haven't gotten a response. Perhaps someone here can help me out. My Dr. (an addiction specialist) prescribed me Subutex. 2MG 4 times per day. This is my second go at trying to get off dope. The Doc. implied that I would be comfortable enough to go to work etc...That is NOT the case. I also have Dicyclomine and Clonodine. Taken all of these together STILL leaves me in a very unpleasant state. Could my dossage just be too low?? I keep hearing how great it is and it does help considerable, but not as much as some people are expressing. I don't want to go on a methadone program, but at least with that I could function. Thank you for listening
Start a new post (Help Subtex).........Neon where are you.......you could answer this.
Hi
Were you in full withdrawal before starting the Sub? You have to go approximately 24 hours (recommended) before starting it and last time using. If you were on Methodone prior to the Sub, you have to wait 48 hours or else you will go into full blown withdrawals right away.
My boyfriends dose on Day 1 was 16 mg (two 8mg pills about 4-6 hours apart) and by the 4th or 5th day, he was down to about 6 mg per day.
hope this helps!
Take care,
Mickey
