Support Meetings?

Hello all,

Ive been thinking alot about attending a NA meeting in my city. I never have been to one yet. Although I do talk alot to my parents, councellor, etc I was wondering if people here who have attending meetings, found them to be benefical.

I would go alone cause I don't know anyone who wants to go and that kinda sucks. I see that the meetings are daily.

Would anyone recommend that I attend one of them? and if I do what should I expect?

Thanks in advance.
I for one would never have stayed off the dope without them. Like you, I went to the first one alone. That was OK, because I met lots of friends when I started attending regularly. I shopped around several different meetings for a few weeks until I found one where I felt at home and after that, it was not difficult to attend them.

Good luck

David
dear shmigelz -

i would suggest and encourage you to go to a meeting.

i would also say regarding expectations, to expect a miracle!

hugs to you -

Dear Shmigelz,

Meetings such as NA/AA can be invaluable. Similar to August's experience, I went to three different meetings before I found one which "felt" right.

If the meetings work for you, this will be another step in the advancement of your recovery. I hope you find the NA meeting(s) worthwhile.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ben
I will be clean and sober for one year on Dec 12th. If not for NA and my other support meetings I would not be able to celebrate my one year of revovery next month. Like others have said, I had to go to several meetings to find the ones that were right for me.

God bless you in your recovery, its takes alot of hard work but its worth every minute of it.
way to go, sharon.
Smil...just look for the similarities, not the differences. And remember, never judge a book by it's cover.
I am still constantly amazed when I hear people's stories...addicts are great at putting on masks..
you will be surprised...
I personally like aa because the na here is all about war stories, and those just set off cravings for me.
good luck...
