im new to this site an i think i have now started with an addiction to this site lol ,anyway i just wanna say ive read a hell of a lot of posts on here an i now see heroin addicts in a different light ill be honest i hated every smack ed , bag ed an what ever other name i used to call them but reading your posts help me to understand that at the end of it all ya only human an everyone makes mistakes , i want to say to everyone on here GOOD LUCK and keep with the strong mind xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thats normal to think ov heroin addicts as "smack heads", "junkies" but untill you actually meet the amazing people on this site then I suppose people will always think the worste of heroin addicts.
I now know different and I will be honest allot of them are pretty damm amazing and I have so much respect for them.
Such normal people will such big hearts, not out for themselves but to actually help others.
I just think everyone on here is great and I thank them all for the helo and support through my problems.
I never knew anything about drugs, heroin or addicts until I used this site and now I am a bloody genius...lol..kidding. No seriously I have learnt a hell of a lot and its thanks to the "addicts" and people going through the same as yourself and me.

Agree with you 100% BR. When i first started reading posts on this site the fist thing i noticed was all the positive vibes and help people gave. Yeah we're not all that bad, eh?

My partner said 80% of heroin addicts are the bad ones..the ones who steal from thier friends and families, take anything to make a little money, burgle houses, steal cars, anything worth a pew pounds to get thier next bag but you know what....I would probably be the same if I was an addict because I have learnt to understand that this addiction is an illness and when you need your gear...WELL YOU NEED IT and without it...well who knows. Serious sh*t...shakes, anxiety, sickness, restlessness, aches, pains need I go on???? Anyway my point is like everyone if you want something in life...you reach with 2 hands and grab it and what I suppose I am trying to say is....well they dont choose to do what they do...they have to and they dont mean any harm they just have to get that hit. I think I have kind of lost myself there...hope this makes sence????
Anyway heroin addicts are very sincere, thoughtfull and honest people...they tell you how it is. The success stories, the temptations, withdrawels, cold turkey, detox...I just love to log on here everyday and learn something new.

No 80% are "bad"........what's he mean like bumming, stealing and knocking elderly ladies over the head?
Bunny Rocker he's messing with ya.........we do that to make us look "better".
Simple fact is an addict is an addict..........and one of the worse hated things I found from rehab.........nobody likes the "uppity" addicts.......which would be say some chick in the same exact place you are.......sweating and smeeling the same, BUT she says "Oh you're not like thos whores and I sure ain't. I would NEVER sell myself".........oh really honey cause that saying "never say never" applies to the nth degree in the case of a heroin addict......."Oh no I am too pretty and I have men do things for me because I'm pretty and I am a high paid exotic dancer"..........well whatever ya say Sister and I hope ya never do have to trick your tail out there".
Sheeesh bad enough we get persecuted by non addicts let alone another addict.........I knew never to say never............Tres will tell ya bout this most absolutely gorgeous girl we met up with..........first thing she says to us is......"I don't ***** blah blah"..........we didn't ask her that.......nothing like that......led me to believe she was doing it and what the heck did we care for.....I felt way bad for that girl..........lovely, intelligent girl all messed up.

True that the folks here are honest and all; I have found much caring and support on these boards; but there are also hundreds of stories here about addicts stealing from their loved ones, abandoning spouses and children in favor of the fix, making all kinds of wrong-headed choices - that's right, choices. When you say they don't choose to do what they do, you excuse the behavior by invoking their disease - the fact is, we all choose every day of our lives. Some choose sobriety and lots of them are here. Hope things are improving in your world, BunnyRocker. Love to your little one.

Hell no...I aint excusing what he is doing and I still dont trust him one bit, but I have seen the money he brings home so he dont need to steel from me just now, plus I dont have much to steel.

Addicts are people, so just like non-addicts there are those who are good and those who are "bad" (not my choice of word). Like you say, some non-addicts steal and lie. But I agree that behaviour always involves a choice...if they are offered a fix they can't refuse, then they have chosen to put themselves in a place where they knew they would be offered that fix.
I'm in a new relationship with someone who is trying to kick H and am struggling to know how best to help him. I don't want to try and do this for him, I can't, but it's hard to stand back too far and watch him fall again. He always makes excuses, has valid reasons why it was too hard this time.
He doesn't steal but is very good at getting people (including me) to lend him the money. But he's not a bad person, he is a good person who makes bad decisions.
