I have other addictions besides alcohol, and I've been out of treatment for a few months. I still haven't a sponsor or a temporary sponsor. How do you find one? Do you just go up to some strange person you don't know and ask? (I can't do that, btw). Some meetings I've been to used to ask, but none at home do. Help
hi i was just skimming through this & saw your question , u may have found a sponser by now but if not and you attend meetings they will have a list of names of temporary sponsers, so you could approach one of them untill you might see someone that you wish to ask at a later date,.try not to be so worried about asking as most of the people who go to meetings have been in that position b4. it takes courage to ask for help but even greater courage to accept it from someone else. good luckx
hello there, the way i got a sponser was listening to others in a meeting and deciding if you want them as a sponser. actually the the person came up to me and asked if i wanted to talk and there it went. this particular person has 17 yrs in the program and i wanted what she had. if you go to a meeting listen and you will know who has a good program.

But if thats not possible then I would suggest you lock for someone whose sobriety you like. Someone who has a little time up and talks about the program working in there life.
You can tell who they are. It was also suggested to me men with men and women with women. Because a whole lot of other issues could raise there head.
Where all very vulnerable when where in early days. And yes you may have to go up and ask that person .Hope all goos well.
Keep it simple one foot in front of the other one day at a time..
