I want to thank you both for sharing on the other thread about telling your children about addiction....

I'm sorry your mother-in-law did that to you...not fair but then again, life never is, is it...

My short story is I have 4 children (youngest is 11yr boy, 2 14yr girls and 1 15 1/2 son)...I know this is a stupid question but here goes...do you think I should tell them individually about this or all together....They know I'm an alcoholic and we're open about that but I quit drinking when they were very small so I never really had to "tell" them.....any and all advise on this would be greatly appreciated...

ps...Teresa, when you talked about taking your daughter to your meetings, it made me smile...My dad's an alcoholic and I spent many hours hanging out at his home group with him...they were always having BBQ's, Sunday breakfast and events...some of my best times in childhood...

Hi Gordon.If it were me having to have a talk like that I think one on one would be best.That way you can give the attention needed to each on thier questions & feelings,.
For me my girls knowing helped them understand alot & now besides my BF & this board my girls are my strongest supporter.
Please let me know how this works out for you.....mj

I think your right...my gut says to talk to them each one on one as each one of them has such a different personality....
