Jacque,
I am sorry to hear the news. Hopefully you will find out soon exactly what it is and they will be able to treat you and control whatever symptoms your having.
Sorry to hear this is happening to you. That would be very scary..Hang in there! Rae
If you don't mind me asking, what is Lupus? And what does a rheumatologist do?

Thanks
Lupus ia a disease of the immune system that attacks the organs of the body.... causes joint pain and inflammation, headaches(migraine type), severe fatigue, sore muscles sometimes tender to the touch and it cause skin rashes, renal failure if not treated properly......They do not know what causes it the rheumatologist is a doctor that deals with specific diseases of the immune systems....... he can diagnose, and treat the disorders......

Jacque

Jacque,

I hope you have a clear diagnosis soon and that they start to treat the problem. I'm sure you're sick of the uncertainty and the waiting for results.

Hang in there and congratulations on that awesome amount of clean time.

Love, Gina
Oh Jaque,
I'm sorry they found that. While I know it's scary I do hope they find ways to help you feel better and learn to do things that help you take care of you! It's going to be really important. And in a way maybe it will be the best because maybe they can get you on track so you feel better and aren't so tired all the time. Nothing is worse than not knowing what's wrong when you know something is wrong. In this case knowlege is power!

hang in there!

Hi Punkebaby,
Good to see you. It's all Jaque said and I'll even add a little more. Although I think she said it short and sweet and to the point better. Lupus is an autoimmune disease. Meaning the body turns and attacks itself. Inflammation is a way that our body gets rid of infection but in Lupus it goes overboard and begins to attack our tissue and cells. There are different kinds of Lupus likes skin or systemic. For some reason the body just turns on itself. You can't get it from another. It is not contagious. The most common symptoms are achy swollen joints, headaches, chronic fever, horrible extreme fatigue, anemia, sensitivity to light, hair loss, mouth ulcers that don't go away after a couple of weeks, seizures, a skin rash on the face and nose that looks like a butterfly, protein in the urine, kidney problems, pain when taking a deep breath. It can be very painful. There's no cure for Lupus right now but a lot of research going on. The treatment is aimed at getting the inflammation down and treating the symptoms. Also, looking at triggers that make it get worse like stress, sleep patterns, diet, that kind of thing and changing the person's lifestyle. The Rhematologist will be the one to offer her the most help like she said in treating the autoimmune disease.

peace,
pm
thanks pm I was making it short and sweet but Im glad you said more I wish they just knew more about it I guess they have come along way though at least we live longer than 5 to 10 years after diagnosis......... like before their were treatments

I'm praying for you, having just gone through the scariest time of my life in that hospitol..........Having very clear answers will give you peace of mind & the courage to get through it
For 2 days laying there in that hospitol, even the Dr. could not give me the right answers,, it was thought in the beginning to possibly renal failure or liver failure, well after all the test were done and I do mean a lot of tests, they found the right answers & while it wasn't the greatest her worry's & mine were put to rest,It wasn't nearly as bad as we 1st thought, so hang in there, God is good stay as positive as you can & I will pray things are not as bad as you are thinking I Understand your fear so well, I don't ever remember being so scared, it is normal. but your in my prayers, please keep us posted
Hugs
Dottie
Jaque,
If that's what it is ........... still we aren't certain, there are alot of new things out there. Just keep your eyes and ear open and find good docs who will keep up with the data. Also look for someone to help you in alternative ways if you are drawn to it and a good nutritionalist is worth their weight for these kinds of things. I think there is alot we can do when we take as much control as we can and we learn what we can and we learn our own bodies and how they react. So I think just knowing what it is and then learning your body you will begin to feel better. I'm praying so anyway. Keep your chin up lady.

love,
pm

ps and yes you can live alot longer than the olden days. hang on my friend.
Oh Jacque... I am really sorry you are having to go thru this! I just happened to check in today and i am really glad i did... the good thing is that at least they have this narrowed down and they can hopefully find some meds that will start helping you feel better. I will continue to keep you in my prayers... i know this must be tough for you... but just know that alot of people care for you and we are all pulling for you... sorry i haven't been checking in... it's gotten really really busy around here! I took on an 11 month old at the beginning of this week and he leaves at 3 so i really can't get on that much anymore. How are the kids?

Love,
Bri :)
