Thanx For Y'all's Help Sorry So Late

thank you for everyone whom gave me support about a month ago. i was at the lowest point in my life considering eating the bullett when i posted on here. the response was overwhelming and honestly saved me i think. have been tapering but still on oxy's. can't afford rehab of any kind i am just this side of houseless. when i go to hosp they tell me no one ever died from opiate wd's but it seems like every time i try to just col turkey it my asthma comes on really fierce so i have to go right back where i ways any suggestions?
Dear Crazyjackalope,
I understand your fear of letting go of the pills. I had the same feelings. I have a chronic disease which involves severe pain and was scared to death. I also have asthma. But let me assure you, it's not the asthma that's giving you the shortness of breath when you're detoxing. It's detoxing. That's just part of the drill and it sucks. I felt like I was having a heart attack and was so panicky. I hope you'll either try to taper quickly or get off the junk altogether. It's just not worth dragging it out. You're only making it worse on yourself. I promise you.
We're here. We've all been there. Let us help you.

Dear Chris,

I just carried my granddaughter up to bed. She was having a very restless night. I always check the board before heading up to bed. I was so relieved and pleased to see your post! You gave us, especially Crystal and I, a scare!

Did you try the places on this site? http://www.drugtreatment.tv/ If you tell me your city/state I'll try to find something for you later this morning/afternoon. I care!

Love,
Susan

Hi there,

I still can not believ how heartless Drs and staff can be...opiate withdrawal wont kill you?! Maybe not but it sure as hell feels that way...that is such an insensitive response....hope you checked out the site that was sent to yu with drug tx centers.Do you have someone with you at home??? Is there anyone that can help you through the withdrawals just by being with you, getting youwarm blankets, emptying your barf bucket etc????

Many people here have been through it and ther are some great recommendations for OTC remedies to take the edge off..Reach out and ask for help...you dont have to get through this totally alone...

Wish I was there to help you, you have to want to stop taking those stupid pills more than anything else youve ever wanted. When you are. You can do it!

Hugs,
Ali
I have trouble believing that opiate withdrawl can't kill you, unless I am mistaken and I may very well be, i have heard of instances where it can. To me the philosophy of detox is cruel and unusual punishment. When I went through morphine withdrawl I certainly felt like I was dying so I can relate.

Stay strong, perhaps look for a 12 step program that you can find others that can share their experiences with you and perhaps some other advise. I have been close to eating a bullet myself and know what a hole that can be.

As a fellow addict I am here for you and will do ANYTHING I can to help.

God bless.
CrazyJack, is there anyway that you can talk to a physician about helping you to detox at home? There are many non narcotic meds that can make w/d much easier and less stressfull on the body. Clonidine is one medicine that works great. It lowers your blood pressure which can tend to run very high during w/d and it allows you to sleep or at least get some rest. You might want to check into getting on an a/d too as you will have mood swings for some time after w/d.

Take Care and keep us updated. We will do all that we can to help you get thru this. Oxycontin w/d is not fun, but I have never heard of anyone dying from it. If you keep taking the oxycontin, it WILL kill you though, so it is in your lap when it comes to quitting. Let us help you.

Dear Chris,

Most of the time I'm over on the families forum. Please let me know how you're doing over there when you get back here. Thanks. I will continue to pray for you and hope that you're okay.

Susan
