I have a question ok my husband was seeing a dr. for his oxy addiction she put him on a pill called suboxone that is a narcotic blocker so you cant get high and you wont be sick from the withdrawls . ok now let me begin by telling you that keep in mind she is this dr. for addiction then he had carpel tunnel surgery and the dr. that did it put him on vicodin well his addiction dr. said he needs something stronger due to the fact he has been on suboxone for months now. Well she put him on morphine pills not 2 a day or 3 a day but she perscribed him 10 a day she was giving him 150 at a time in total she gave him 1200 in 2 months and also perscribed him 48 oxycontin 40 mg now i know he has a mind of his own but can anyone tell me she is not also to blame, i have every bottle she perscribed and i am half tempted to sue her a** for ruining my family what do you guys think?
Well, as for suing, my family wanted me to sue, also. My dr was giving me a HUGE amount.
The dr sounds like a major quack,
but suing might be a little harder to do.
That sounds absurd; wasn't the point to get off the meds?

Ok, so I got confused somewhere.....but I do know one thing no one should be on that many pills, but it happens.....and about the sub.....it works like this you stop taking whatever pills you are taking go through withdrawl for like 24 hours then jump on it and it stops the wd and helps with the cravings and blocks your use of opiates. Bear in mind if you want to use you can abuse the sub to an extent or get around it and abuse drugs......From reading on here addicts are extremely smart and if they want to can get around any road block.
BTW drop the doc she is an idiot!

dyldevtor- What I have said since Day 1 here is these Doctors are nuts. They put you on something. You become addicted and when you go to them for help, they run away. I don't see the reason in that. OR, they just give you something else to sub for it. It's totally nuts, if you ask me. I don't thing suing is the answer. The answer is your hubby needs to get well. And with your help, he will.
Well you asked.. I see exactly why you would feel the way that you do... and it is perfectly normal to feel this way.... you said it your self... he had a mind of his own and the fact that he is going to an addiction doctor says both in the eyes of the law (if you were serious in your thoughts of legal action--some people have tried to do this and have won under much different circumstances) and in common sense factors that he knew or should have known that this disease of addiction dictates certain behaviors are a no no.... no matter who or where the meds come from...
I got my meds (at first) from a doctor... but i knew that I was using them wrongly so who is to blame.. ultimately... that is what it is looked at... Sometimes we as humans and as addicts and families of addicts get so caught up in how bad our lot in live is, exusing our actions and who is to blame for it instead of just recognizing our problems, dealing head on with them and moving forward... personal responsibiltiy is maybe more important in recovering from addiction than in most thing as it is easy to fall into the trap of exuses because there are soooo many....
You can choose to put forth a mountain full of energy in placing blame and holding resentments or you can place most of it squarely where it belongs and say 'hea you knew you had an addictive potential .. you didnt need a doc to tell you that so you did this to yourself... Now lets start again with recovery and take what we have learned and do better... ' I would, however take back some power and report this doctor to your State medical Board so that his behavior can not be repeated to others.
Just my two cents...
Good luck
