The Power Of The Christmas Tree

I was putting my tree up, bitching and moaning about all the work....kids are grown so I do it alone..not as much fun. As I unwrapped each ornament, emotions flooded over me. I saw the "Mom" ornament we made in '75 with nail polish on a gold ornament....my old cat....all the homemade ones my girl made while in grade school...so many memories. When I decided to take a break, I turned on the lights....so beautiful...and magical..what is it about a Christmas tree? It was worth all the work. There is a lot of love and many memories on mine. I hope you all enjoy your own trees. I am a wuss...it brought me to tears. Love, Sharonn
Dear Sharon,

Thanks for the post. I needed to read that. I wasn't going to put up a tree. It is just my husband and I. Our daughter will be home from college for Christmas, but I was just thinking about all the work too. Also we are babysitting her 6 month old beagle and I have a feeling that could be trouble with the ornaments and all.

BUTTTT!!!!!! Your post got me to thinking about some of the special ornaments I have been given over the years. Many of them made by our daughter when she was a little girl (the marshmallow snowman is looking real bad, but I can't toss that one, it is my favorite). Two of the ornaments have pictures of siblings my husband has lost over the past 10 years.

You have changed my mind; I have a new attitude. I am going to get off my lazy hind end and put up the tree tonight!!

Thanks Sharon or sharing.

I love this Board.

Merry Christmas to all.

Beautiful post Sharron....
Thank you for sharing.
My favorite things on the tree are the things the kids made in school. I have so many homemade reindeer out of christmas balls, popsicle sticks, and clothespins, santas made from crayons. They are so cute with the kids name and the year made.
I love this time of year, always did. This year I have so much to be thankful and grateful for. The tree kinda showed that more then anything.
Enjoy it all,
Love,
Tina
Faith, think about getting a 3 foot artificial prelit tree. It makes the work so much less and putting it on a stand will help you with the dog issues. I have a wonderful fiberoptic and it's just a matter of lifting it from the bag and putting it on a stand.

I use clear glass ornaments and make special ornaments for my friends that include their (or their loved ones pictures). I really enjoy doing it and know what happiness it will give the person opening it and it's not that expensive a gift to give except for the time involved.

I love Christmas and enjoy seeing the lighted tree each night it's up. It's worth the trouble, even for just me and my husband.
I have gotten into the holiday spirit early this year and I cant say why. But our tree has been up a week now and I love looking at it at nighttime. I too love looking at the old keepsake ornaments and they are worth more than any expensive one that is out there. I usually cant wait for the holiday season to be over, get the tree and lights put back away and wait for Spring! This year perhaps Im realizing I should appreciate all the days we have, cold, hot, doesnt matter. Same with the people in our loves. We all have imperfections. But we all need to be appreciated too. I hope everyone allows themselves to enjoy whatever it is in their lives that means something to them.
