The Promises

I absolutely LOVE this:

The Promises.
If we are painstaking about this phase of our development,
we will be amazed before we are half way through.
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
Self seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and economic insecurity will leave us.
We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not
do for ourselves. Are these extravagant promises? We think not.
They are being fulfilled among us-sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.
QUOTE
They will always materialize if we work for them.

I remember when the Promises started happening for me....it was then that my recovery shifted and my belief in my HP, God started to really take on a new meaning....but I also know that today I do not have the luxury of resting on my laurels and I must always do the work in front of me to reap the benefits...

Good post, SKG....I too love the Promises....

Thanks for that skg, it was good to see that again.
How true it is too!! When I was reading it and got to the bit about self pity it was like - oh yeah!! I used to really feel sorry for myself - ughh, how ugly that was. I am so glad I am not like that anymore!!
SKG ~ thanks for that....I just love to read the "Promises"...allthough things aren't how I would necessarily like them to be, I know the "Promises" started to be present for me just like it says in the Big Book, before I was halfway through...hope all is well with you and yours. Hi to everyone else out there!

Where else in life are there guarantees?
