Hi all, Doing fine on sub today. Went to work this morning and was walking down the hall when a co-worker walked up to me to inform me that a friend of ours was killed in a car wreck yesterday. I was stopped in my tracks, my whole day was changed. This was a female friend of mine that was an addict still using everyday. I had tried many times to get her to meetings. She had been to treatment in-patient over 15 times. Traveling down a road with another person that was driving. Lost control and she was ejected when car rolled... died instanly... This is the third person I know have died in the last four months that were close to me... all addicts still using.... Iam o.k., I went and seen the family and have been asked to be a pall brearer at her funeral....This disease kills ... Iam just glad to be clean and sober today....

Sorry for your loss. What heartbreak, and yet you get something positive out of it - a real knowledge that this is an awful disease that kills. It's just too bad we have to go through such tough lessons to really get it.

Tak, So sorry. That's a tough one to swallow, again. You never know who you might have touched or inspired by posting this tonight, though. some moms and dads who drive around with kids while high could sure use a wake up call. I know I used to do it. Thanks.

Hey all , Thanks for the replys and prayers... I forgot to mention 42 days on sub... John, and all, Yes, Iam grateful I got myself straightened out.... I have had to deal with so much death this year, its amazing how many addicts have died in this small town this year.... And I knew just about every one of them.
I got my butt up and went to a meeting tonight just got back. We were reading from the chapter their is a solution... You know there is a solution to this disease... When I first read that chapter the light went off. You know I use to think how did i get myself in this mess. I use to ask , if some one would just give me a formula to change my life, thats all I need a answer.... a formula.
Then I read, The Big Book, it tells me about my life, how we think, the madness of using when we know its not good for us. Our education and intelligence is no use when you are a addict..... It was right in front of me when I read the Big Book,,,,duhhhhhh There is a Solution, my formula I always wanted. Then not only is there a solution, a couple chapters later it tells me HOW IT WORKS followed by INTO Action.... It does not say there might be a solution, it could work like this, the chapter Into Action, does not say , sit around and think about it,,,, Into Action.... This is what I choose to do, believe there is a solution, believe this is how it works and put it in action.... I have to do this to stay sober and clean one day at a time..... or I can become another statistic....

Dsam , the guy driving was using, and is in critcal conditon in a local hospital they life flighted him from the scene... Iam sure they were both under the influence of alcohol and drugs....
