my gp wasnt on today and i had a severe pain in my left ear (actually still do). so i made an appointment at the clinic up the road and i had to see the new doctor who is the only woman there. on the front of my file it says "no benzodiazepines to be given". fair enough, i had a prob with them so thats ok. well as soon as i said about the pain she says "dont think u can just come here to get pain medication and benzos"!! im like wtf! ok then..... then she says what has ur psych got u on, and i said anafrinal which is my anti-depressant! she says (and i cant still believe this) "thats a benzodiazepam"!! omg! i said "NO IT ISNT OMG"!!! then she just says "right sign this". u know the paper to say id had a consultation...well i said to her "STICK IT" threw the paper at her and walked out demanding to speak to the other doc. which i did and he explained stuff and i thanked him...never again will i go back to her!!! even the poor 83 yr old lady at the chemist was complaining about her!!!! she used to be a nurse so she basically said she thinks this doctor has no idea either!!!! im trying to calm myself without touching a valium!!!! ggrrr so in the end i never even got to say what the prob was?!?!? lol
Dont you just hate it when doctors like that treat you like your comeing in for pain pills, benzos ect.....My husband had a bad accident Dec.30 this past year.he is disabled right now .i stoped him by the doctor office after the fall and this old doctor about eighty years old was the only doctor there. This office has alot of x-ray and equitment to find alot of whats wrong with a person.rather something broken or whatever. My husband was back out the office in 10 mins with a pill i never heard of.He said the doctor said he was just going to be sore and nothing is broke .I got the medicine filled came home and looked it up.it was medicine for allergy and inflamary water eyes.My husband was in alot of pain that weekend.I got him back to the doctor same office to see a different doctor. My husband had 4 broke ribs,he had knot his whole knee out of place and his back was killing him.His leg was swallen four times its size.He has a new doctor there and she said she knew what doctor he seen that said nothing was wrong and that he dont believe in given really any medicines for any reason. My husband has had knee surgury and he has to go see a back spec. soon.He was on a antideprestent paxil cr and it made him act crazy hear things and he thought everyone was after him.We called his doctor and she was leaveing for the week but wanted my husband to come in and see that old man.My husband didnt want to go and see him but i told him he need to get off the paxil cr .We went and he said why are you shacking then asked are you sleeping .my husband said i always shack just more at doctors and i dont sleep good.the doctor ask is anyone in your family bi-polar?We said his aunt he said i think you are bi-polar and said that paxil cr dont have them side effect like we decibied.I have a pamlet on paxil and it states these side effect.Anyways he went out and brought 2 boxes of zantra or something for manic bi-polar.he said take this and come back in two weeks.he said you dont need any of the other medicine and that the other doctor needed to get him off all of the meds.I wouldnt send my dog to this man .my kids seen him years back they were sick with cold and he said they didnt need anything to buy the cold meds. of the self.He is just one of them doctor that dont believe in prescribing anything. But,my family want ever see him again.............Crystal
Elvis,
I don't know if you can get it in Australia, but here in the states there is a very good drug called Debrox. It is drops that go in the ear. I had a terrible earache when I visited the ocean some years ago and went to a pharmacy to ask if they had any remedies. They suggested this and I have used it more than once with very good results. (The problem is that it is rather expensive and is only good for about 6 mos.) Still, if the ear hurts, it's worth a try. Good luck.

That is just awful... can anyone say "compassion"? Even drug abusers get REAL pain and REAL anxiety from time to time, and there are ways (and therapies, etc.) to handle these issues that are not so degrading to the patient, who is after all, a PERSON first.
I would have walked out too.
I am sorry this happened to you. It's punishment enough to have had problems with pills, then to be treated like a criminal, or a child, or worse . . .
ARGGGH. GRRRRR.

E-anafrinal is used for OCD..it's not a AD..i would recommend Zoloft or something other than that but who am I to judge...but it does indeed sound like your Dr. is a nut case..instead of helping you, as she should have, she diss'd you..bs...they swear an oath..and make a lot of dough for doing it...if there is a patient in need, it is THEIR responsibility to help..however, most Doctors forget that and go for the easy way or $$
anafranil is a tricyclic antidepressant. I take it for my ocd, its an older antidee that they found works well for people with ocd.
That doctors an ahole.

i have no probs with doctors treating me knowing ive had a benzo prob. i just dont like it and feel it is totally unnecessary when they automatically put u in a class of ur own before u even get to say what the problem is. she saw the note on the front and just assumed i was trying to get drugs.... some people should not be practising!!!
its ok i will wait to see my own gp on friday for my ear! she isnt my doctor it was the first time id seen her, shes new to the practise!!! b***h!!!!!
