Till Death Do Us Part!!!

So, now, little man, you've grown tired of grass,
Amphetamine, downers, acid and hash,
Someone pretending to be your best friend,
Introduced you to Lady Heroin.
Well, honesy, before you start fooling with me,
Just let me inform you of how it will be;
I will seduce you and make you my slave;
I've sent stronger men than you to thier grave.

You think you could never be a disgrace,
And end up and addict to poppy seed waste?
You'll swindle your mother, just for a buck,
Ant turn into something vile and corrupt.
You'll rob and you'll steal for my narcotic charms
And only find peace when I'm there in your arms,
And when you realise the monster you,ve grown,
You'll solemnly pledge to leave me alone.

You may think you've got the mystical knack,
But, honey, try getting me off your back.
The vomits, the cramps, your guts tied in knots,
Nerves screaming out for those much-needed shots,
The hot sweats, the cold chills, the withdrawel pains,
Can only be cured by my little brown grains.
You gave me your conscience, your morals, your heart.
You're mine now forever, TILL DEATH DO US PART!!

Nah Davey,

Am reading a book at the moment and its about a man who gets to know a group of young kids who have pretty much been abandoned by thier families and turn to drugs, theft and petty crime. They live in a shed and call themselves THE SHED CREW.

The poem really touched me. I thought it was pretty spot on.

Lynds xx

yeah-id like to get ahold of a good read ive been lookin for a week but nothins popped up--who wrote it?? whats the name??
Its called URBAN GRIMSHAW AND THE SHED CREW by Bernard Hare

Thr the following link as they are selling on ebay....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Urban-Grimsha...1QQcmdZViewItem

This is an eye-opening, jaw-dropping account of Britain's dispossessed youth and inner city wastelands by an insider, as funny and inspiring as it is heartbreaking. You're twelve years old. Your mother's a junkie and your father might as well be dead. You can't read or write, and you don't go to school. An average day means sitting round a bonfire with your mates smoking drugs, or stealing cars. Welcome to Urban's world. Bernard Hare was on society's margins, living on one of Leeds' roughest estates and with a liking for drink and drugs. So he knew what life in the underclass was like in '90s Britain. But even he was shocked when he met Urban, an illiterate, glue-sniffing twelve-year-old. And through Urban he got to know the Shed Crew - an anarchic gang of kids between the ages of ten and fourteen; joy-riding, thieving runaways, who were no strangers to drugs or sex. Nearly all had been in care, but few adults really cared. Bernard decided to do what he could. He didn't know what he was letting himself in for.

Other books to look out for are Heroin by Julie O'Toole and Candy by Kevin Brooks. They are also about heroin abuse.

I got them all from ebay and you get them from next to nothing.

Happy reading xx
*******Candy, the book, concerns lack of control. Candy, the character, has none. A heroin-addicted prostitute, utterly dependent on the terrifying pimp who supplies her drugs, she totters into toilets for regular fixes. She is beautiful, bright and sparky, but wrecked. Joe falls crazily in love with her, and love removes any control he might have had, hooking him into the ugly detritus of a drug-addict's world.

*******Heroin is a story of hope; a story of a young woman's
emergence from the depths of drug addiction and despair.
Julie O'Toole started using heroin in her mid-teens. A bright young girl,
she quickly developed a chronic addiction and her life spiralled out of
control. Enslaved to the drug, Julie began shoplifting to feed her habit
before offering to work as a drug dealer for notorious gangsters.

Julie was eventually saved by the care and support of a drugs counsellor,
and by her own strength to endure.

Heroin is a tale of how a young girl became a victim of circumstances.
Julie's story takes us from Dublin's inner city to London and America, and
gives an insight into how anyone can become a victim of circumstances.

With honesty and insight, Julie tells of the Horror and degradation that
came with life as a drug addict, and reveals the extraordinary strength of
will that enabled her to conquer heroin addiction and to help others to do
the same.

i read that book candy too--do you think the movie candy was loosly based--if it was--they went waaaaaay off course but alot of things were similar
I have ordered the movie too but havent watched it as yet. The film is supposedly based on the book but as I havent watched it yet I eally dont know. I have heard that the film is really touching but I say you cant beat a good book. Films tend to miss out allot of detail and add allot of thier own parts.

I cant wait to sit and watch the film though!!
