Tim

Hi Tim, just wanted to thank you for your support and I completely understand what you are feeling about what is happening in your life. I stopped smoking 2 years ago and the thought of smoking is coming quicker these past few days. my mom is in the hospital, she is 80 and Wed she will be going thru a surgery that she may not survive, the dr's have made it clear how dangerous it is. The other choice he gave her was living a few months maybe in a hospice, either dying from infection or bleeding, she is completly with it in her mind and made the decision to have surgery. She has a pain pump and a feeding tube becuz she is so frail, but for the first time I completly trust the dr who will be doing the surgery. My sister is coming from arizona and she smokes constantly so it will be challenging due to the fact the hospital is 100 miles away and we will be staying in the same hotel room. You have come so far in the past yrs and I am very inspired by you. Thanks for being you

Take care

Carol
You are my hero, Carol. Don't you dare smoke. I'm sorry about your Mom. I hope she feels better soon.
Thanks Carol.I quit today.I'm wearing one of those patches.Usually if I can get past two days,I won't have to wear them. They make me kind of nauseated.
Thanks Kat I really have no intention of smoking but I am on guard totally right now, Tim the patch is what I used to stop, it really worked for me for some reason. Seriously the smell of smoke is pretty harsh to me nowdays. Oregon passed a new law Jan 1. I know the hospital my mom is in is a smoke free facility, can not smoke on the grounds and this place is huge. It does over 100 surgeries a day. I think my sister is searching for a smoke friendly hotel near the hospital but I do not know if she will find one. This hospital is world renowed, all private rooms, really a great place low nurse patient ratio, the part that scares me is immed following surgery she will be in ICU and on a respirator and that is the scary part to get her off of that. I was able to sleep in the room with her, came home to check everything and going back tonight. This is the moment I have feared all my life and just going thru the motions now. She has made it clear she does not want to be revived if it comes to that.
Gee Carol, so sorry to hear about your mom. I can't imagine having to deal with a real sick and frail loved one. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Don't smoke. Good for you Tim. Nicotine is evil, I hate it. I must quit too! Who the hell smokes at 45???? What the hell is wrong with me. I know it's catching up to me. I bought some patches a while back, I think they are expired. It's time for me to get serious about quitting.

I have smoked for 30 years, you don't get sick from smoking for a couple a years.....it's decades and it's bound to happen.

You guys have renewed my wish to quit. I am gonna do it. PERIOD.

Carol, I hope things go well for your mom. Gosh, Honey, you have been through so much with her. What a blessing you've been to her these past few years.
There is nothing more disguisting that a hotel room for smokers. At all costs, try not to stay in one. Every item you take in them comes out smelling like an ashtray. I smoke, but I can not stay in a smoker's room. Tell your sister it's a great time to cut back and get a non-smoking room!! There's always the great outdoors.
I am sending hugs and good vibes your way, as well as keeping you in my prayers. Get in touch if you need to talk, you have my #, and email.
love, Carol
I'm sorry to hear about your mom.

I agree with the other Carol, Carol. hah.

I am a smoker too and the worse thing is a smokey hotel room. It never goes away and everything does smell like an ashtray. Its gross. I try to respect the person I am staying with and just smoke outside. Your sister will smoke less if she smokes outside.
I wish you the best!
