Nothing new is going on in my life. I have a good solid marraige, a healthy 10 year old daughter. My 18 year old step-daughter recently started spending time at our house again. She went through several years where she was wild and didn't like our rules so she refused to come down on the weekends like she always did. But since November she has come back around and is actually here more then she's not. I get along very well with her. That's about the only thing that's changed in my life recently and it's been a positive thing. But I am so tired all the time. I go to bed about 11:30p.m. and get up at 7:30a.m. By 10:00a.m. I can barely keep my eyes open. Then things pick up a little in the afternoon but by 5:00p.m. I get really tired again. I don't know what's wrong with me. I used to have problems sleeping because I was so wired and now I have trouble staying awake during the day. I could probably take two naps a day if I let myself. And I could probably sleep until noon. I did have that big surgery last year and have been on hormones since then. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll ask my doctor.
Hey Shelly
Long time no talk!
I've been having the same problem lately. I go to bed about 12, get up about 8:30. That should really be enough sleep!! I used to get 4 hrs. and be ok!
anyways., It's so hard for me to get out of bed. when I'm off or the weekend, i sleep til' 10-11. Except last weekend i slep til almost 1,. lol
When i'm at work, i get tired about 12:30 and then at around 4:30 i get a second wind.
I think lugging a 35lb kid up 3 flights of stairs along with my purse and whatever books/bags i have twice a day also could be something that would wear anyone out. I'm out of shape anyways. I need to do it more if you ask me.
Try to go to bed 30 min. earlier, it may help. Are you taking vitamins?? TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!! especially b w/ C.
Love ya

Hi there imo our bodys tell us when things are not right if there is nothing med wrong then maybe your body is telling you to rest more, slow down, lose a few pounds, maybe your sleeping but not a restfull sleep? could be any number of solvable reasons hun jaxxxxxxx
Shelly, Does your husband or you snore? The reason I ask is I am constantly waking up at night to hit my husband because he snores so loud. I think that is why I am tired all the time. I like you could take a few naps during the day. My brother in law did a sleep study because he was falling asleep all day long even at work and the doctor told him the reason he was so tired during the day was even though he thought he was getting enough sleep at night it was interrupted (sp) because of his snoring. They put him on a c-pap machine and it has made a world of difference. Good luck to you. Shantel
Having Lupus...fatigue is a major obstacle for me..I go to bed at around 11:30-7:30 also.it is important to train your body to sleep at a regular schedule and get QUALITY sleep...I wear a mask(Lone Ranger) and when Tony snores I sleep on the couch. My sleep is crucial to my health and o is REST. Do you run arounad all day w/o a break. Invest in a good protein powder and make a shake every morning....with vitamins. Have your thyroid checked along with your B-12 levels, iron, etc. I am menopausal so I am not anemic but I don't know how old you are. What helped me the most was the simplest thing..I would have NEVER believed it....drink more water! Most of us drink dehydrating drinks all day and walk around in a mild state of dehydration. Sometimes when I want coffee I reach for a BIG bottle of water. I feel SO much better afterward...sometimes it is that simple. But to be sure, have your Dr. run some bloods on you to check...breathe properly as well...no shallow breathing. Exercise gets fresh air into your lungs and helps a lot. Even if I take a walk..I feel better. I hope your energy comes back son. It took me a long time to realize taht the laundry could wait....if I lay down for an hour the world would not stop spinning. I hope you feel better soon . Love, Sharonn.
Hey Shelly...hormones play a huge part in how we feel. Have you talked to your gyno about natural hormones or bio-identicals? Maybe try winding down a little earlier in the evening. I'm in bed most nights by 9 or 10 at the latest and get up by 8. I've found that since my surgery, I need lots of sleep and don't feel guilty for it either.
Thanks for all the advice. A couple of things that jumped out at me were the fact that I do need to lose about 25lbs. I'm still carrying the weight I gained while on methadone. Since the surgery last year I have never really felt 100%. In fact I'm not even sure that I've felt 80%. There are still some ongoing complications so I'm still dealing with some of that. I would like to learn more about natural hormones because I've heard such bad things about synthetic hormones. I'm on cenestin right now. Also, my husband does snore and in fact just last week he also had a sleep study, he has sleep apnia, and he will have to start using a c-pat(?) machine. I guess all these things added up can explain why I am so tired. I just hate it though. I can't get going until mid afternoon. Usually around the time my daughter gets home from school. I get nothing done during the day. If I try to do something I'm usually miserable. I've been thinking of getting a new family doctor. We recently started taking my daughter to a new doctor and he seems nice so maybe I should make an appt, with him. Doctors can be hit and miss, sometimes you have to try a few before you find the one that seems like a good fit. I definitly want a second opinion because everytime I talk to my current dr. about my problems he just pushes medicine on me. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks again!

I had the same thing going on years ago after I had my last child and it ended up I had a low Thyroid Have you had your thyroid checked?
I would also cut out all caffiene after 12 in the afternoon. Drink chamimoile (sp?) tea in the evening, take a warm bath....get relaxed so that you sleep a good sleep. Can you sleep in another room for a couple of nights? I snore horribly, so my poor husband knows how you feel. He refuses to sleep apart though. His trick is to go to bed before me and be asleep by the time I go to bed. Then it doesn't bother him. Seriously, check with your dr about the hormones..you need to have blood work done and I think they check your thyroid at that time. Sleep well tonight...
