Hey Liz - I'm trying to read thru the threads here quickly before we have some friends come over for dinner. Anyway I saw some stuff you posted on another thread, and what your wrote made my weekend! I'm so impressed with the progress you've made! You sound so good. It's just really heartwarming, and so I want to pass along my best to you. Jim
someone asked me a few messages back what the word namaste' means. i apologize for not answering before now and below i have pasted a definition/meaning for this word.
namaste' is what i felt when i read liz's very first message on this forum. not only did i feel the connectiveness of her soul to mine, i knew there was this Divine spark just bursting to be free. how did i know this? i have taken a walk in liz's shoes and it was in learning how to understand myself, i could understand liz.
i have had the extreme priviledge to get to know liz off list and to you my dear friend, liz, i say...thank you for you, and sharing your incredible journey of discovery/recovery with me.

The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "Nama" means bow, "as" means I, and "te" means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me you" or "I bow to you."
To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the heart charka, close the eyes, and bow the head. It can also be done by placing the hands together in front of the third eye, bowing the head, and then bringing the hands down to the heart. This is an especially deep form of respect. Although in the West the word "Namaste" is usually spoken in conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word while bowing.
We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes helps the mind surrender to the Divine in the heart. One can do Namaste to oneself as a meditation technique to go deeper inside the heart chakra; when done with someone else, it is also a beautiful, albeit quick, meditation.
For a teacher and student, Namaste allows two individuals to come together energetically to a place of connection and timelessness, free from the bonds of ego-connection. If it is done with deep feeling in the heart and with the mind surrendered, a deep union of spirits can blossom.
Namaste'
"I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One."
It is pronounced as"Namastay" with the first two a's as the first a in "America" and the ay as in "stay", but with the t pronounced soft with the area just behind the tip of the tongue pressing against the upper-front teeth with no air passing (as the t in "tamasha").

Sammy:
I know we say Namaste in yoga but did not know the true meaning. Thanks for sharing. I have a necklace I wear called "the heart" for the 4th chakra. It's made of the colors of the 4th chakra out of energy stones, rose quartz etc. It's a very healing piece of jewelry.
Love,
Rachel

Hey Jim, Sammy and Sharon,
Thank you so much. I can't tell you how much this room, getting off the pills and starting on new medication has helped me. I honestly feel like a different person. Like I'm finally free of the bondage of depression that has taken so many years of my life. I spent the whole day working on Christmas decorations. I tell ya what, I really impressed myself, lol. My ornaments came out so nice. My house looks so nice now too. I'm always busy now. What a difference. I'm living, Yippee. Hoping everybody has a great night. I come off and on here from time to time. I have 3 others here who like getting turns on the computer. So, while they are getting their turns soon here I will play video games with my son. He hates playing me, I usually win. LOL.
Love,
Liz

Liz you know how i feel about you hun you are what this site is about recovery and you have showed in such a short space of time what true recovery can do given the right help ive seen you grow from a tiny bud into the most beautiful flower imaginable and in your pressence you have given so much hope to others simply by watching you grow in confidence and spirit. There was a time when you could of given up and im sure you thought about it many times but hey no you never settled now you are reaping the rewards. Im so proud to know you jackie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sammy as always your words have true deep meaningfull messages, whilst we go through this transition of change let it be known that i have the upmost respect for you and wish nothing but a bright future for you. (((hugs))) jackie xxx
Liz, glad you're still here and especially glad that you're feeling more lightness in your life. Your kids will love those decorations....
Sammy, my wife has a shirt with the word "namaste" on the chest. I asked her what it meant. She said she understood it to mean something like, "The good in me recognizes the good in you." Does that square with your understanding? It seems consistent with what you wrote above. M.

dearest jackie -
your dipped your pen into my heart with your kind words. thank you and what a delight it is to me to see you posting again. i've missed your message of hope and am grateful for all you do.
"m" -
yes, that squares with me. like rachel pointed out this is a term of respect that is used frequently in yoga. you can do a google search on chakra's (the 4th chakra, which rachel so eloquently pointed out as the heart chakra's) has a direction correlation with the meaning of the namaste'.
what a wonderful message to receive this morning. thank you all for loving me today.
