To expect life to be tailored to our specifications is to invite frustration.

Life is what it is. It seldom matches our hopes and dreams, but it never fails to be exactly what we need. We are shortsighted, really. Reflections on the past can enlighten us to this fact. Seldom does any plan develop as we'd assumed.
Perhaps we are only beginning to realize that there exists a carefully orchestrated plan that each of us has been invited to experience. Our contributions help to form the plan, which enhances our personal development. We are privy to the tiniest segment at any one moment, however. We must trust that the plan has our best interests at heart, even though our sights may be focused elsewhere. The evolution of our lives, often in spite of our own misguided efforts, should convince us that we can let go of the reins.
What life offers today is what I need - no matter what I may think
Thanks, I needed to hear that, Janet. I found a good one from Daily Reflections Oct. 12 that I read daily...
Curbing Rashness
When we speack or act hastily or rashly, the ability to be fari-minded and tolerant evaporates on the spot.
Being fair-minded and tolerant is a goal toward which I must work daily. I ask God, as I understand him, to help me be loving and tolerant to my loved ones, and to those with whom I am in close contact. I ask for guidance to curb my speech when I am agitated, and I take a moment to reflect on the emotional upheaval my words may cause, not only to someone else, but also to myself. Prayer, meditation, and inventories are the key to sound thinking and positive action for me.

Thanks to both of you for those....I read out of the Daily Reflections every day. It has become a bible of sorts for me.
