tomorrow makes 7 weeks. :) I just wanted to make a report to all those wonderful people that help me. I feel good have no desire to go back to methadone, or any other drug. I'm looking forward to two months. lots of love, stay strong, and remember if I can do it you can too.
Daniel,
Nice work! Be proud of yourself. Also, know that you can help others with your experience. You have accomplished something that many begin and fail. In fact, I read in the only study/whitepaper that if you take the best candidates that want to get off methadone, based on certain criteria, only 27% make it to zero mg's! Then if you take that 27% very few make it to a year without relapse. It's awesome that you have done it! I'm going to be one like you and have great success. I hope that you attend support groups so you can help others and give them courage, hope, and support.

I've been in recovery (clean/sober) for over 25 yrs
I have seen folks who were clean/sober for many years go back out.
Recovery is so little about the DOC and so much about our mental/emotional/spiritual health.
There is a simple sentence in AA's BIG BOOK that has proven itself true so many times over the years. It says: " We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition."
I have found that if you are a hardcore alcoholic/addict of any sort the above statement is true.
We get caught up in trying to get off the booze/drugs without suffering and "that ain't going to happen". To truly begin growing away from substance abuse we are going to go through a life changing process (painful) and unless we do that we will not succeed.
I had to grow toward a healthy life to replace my addiction life.
The 12 Steps enable me to grow stronger every day as I work them.
Booze and drugs loose their appeal and power as time goes along.
There had to come a point in my life where I put down the substance and embraced AA/NA.
All the best.
