Stories From The Front:
So I'm in an Open Meeting of AA a little while ago, and there's four people who've received "Gift Certificates," from the court to attend AA meetings. DUI referrals. MOST of these people are silent, probably quietly wondering to themselves what sort of bad luck got them where they are. Some listen and, when given an opportunity to speak, humbly pass or at least acknowledge that they're in an AA meeting--probably not the first place they'd rather be at 11-- AM on a Monday.
And there there are the TOXIC ones. Angry, loud, defiant, full of bravado that they're only there because some damned law officer didn't understand and the f***ing judge is an a****** and everyone's f***ing stupid for even making them come, but they've got to get their f***ing license back because they've gotta drive to get to work and the b**** spouse has a broken leg and can't drive and the mother-in-law's pissing them off and this is their 3rd DUI in as many years and on and on and on (I deleted some of the foul language).
I need these assfaces in my life occasionally. It saddens me that these people are on the other side of the yellow line on the road, that they can't see bottom yet, and someone's gonna die before the message is clear: Alcohol kills.
I am extremely grateful for the Program of AA and you can do what you want, but THIS alkie needs all the reinforcement available.
Peaceness!
Hopefully it won't take someone's death for those people to wake up and see what this disease is doing to them!
By the grace of God I never got a DUI though I should have many times. We all know how wonderful we think we drive when we are buzzing. Totally insane but it's the reality of addiction and alcoholism. We never see the problem until many times it's too late.
Sounds like they really "got" to you. Normally you are like a duck and just let it roll off. Were the distractions really disruptive and loud this meeting or something?
Caio for Now Skg!! :-)

Gee. I'm sure glad I never blamed the world for what I did. That would be so alcoholic of me. <BEG>
Yup. And it's time you STOPPED!
LOL
I was just the opposite--took responsibility for everyone and everything. I could fix it/you and make it/you better. God never seemed to be around when I thought He should be so I had to fill in. SOMEONE had to do it! Sheesh!
Damned alcoholics--always gotta be 'different.'

There is someone orbiting my life at the moment who is extremely vexatious to my spirit. He behaves appallingly around my kids and my response determines my mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. I am not able to like him and I continue to judge him, which I know opens myself to pain because I know that what I hate in him is what I deny and hate in myself; the parts I banish and reject. And I know that it was hating parts of myself that drove me to adopt defense mechanisms that damaged me in a variety of ways, including leading me to drink.
I think that's why the AA thing about taking inventory and four fingers pointing back at me when I point at him helps us. AA is full of wonderful stuff that does in straightforward and powerful ways things that therapists train for years to help us do.
He is on a journey, is all.
Don't take inventory....is my aim these days....but boy, is it hard!
God bless you skq.

What about the lady who is doing her 3 mile jog whist on her cell phone? In fact she was sill talking about the same thing when I passed her again.
How do I know?..........I'm nosey.
At least Heather won't be wearing the same thing as Dawn tonight.
