Trying To Help A Friend

Some of you may be familiar with JD's situation. I was the best man in his wedding and teach with him. He has reached out for my help but I don't know where to begin. He opened up to me last time in January when he first kicked the habit and I wasn't much help. He seemed to be fine and honestly it didn't occur to me that he might even be back on the pills until he told me last night. Then of course I replay the past few months in my head and I realize that I am a f-ing idiot.

So I need to know what I need to do to help my friend. He is an amazing teacher and someone that I continue to learn from every time we teach together. Our group of kids cannot afford to lose him and I am not gifted enough to do this alone. I have asked him to stay away for now but I dont know if this is the correct thing to do. I would like to think that if I ask him to stay away from the kids for now that maybe this will help fuel his fire to kick this habit once and for all. I haven't asked him to resign or anything but just to stay away for the time being.

JD is my best friend and I know he has it in him to bury these demons forever. I want to help him and his wife. Someone please show me the way.

Thanks
Wow...everyone should have a friend like you in their corner.

JD wants help so that's half the battle. Be there for him, encourage him to call you when it gets really bad. Go to a meeting with him. Take him out of the house and do something that has to do with exersize.

You can be his rock. Sounds like he wants and needs you.
