Hi everyone! I have been reading some of these post lately and it occurred to me that we really need to have a prayer vigil. In other words, we should pick out a particular day and time, and all of us, in unison pray for each other! There is so much power in numbers, and I just know that we will see some earth shaking response if we were all together, simultaneously praising God, and calling on him to save our loved ones from the bondage of addiction.
I propose we all commit to praying, possibly this Friday night at a particular time. I live on the East coast, so perhaps 10pm for me, that would make it 9pm central, and 8pm Mtn, and 7pm Pacific (I think that's correct).
Please respond if you are interested, and list your loved one and any specifics!
I'm excited about the potential for change that this has. We say God is in control, and we do not receive because we do not ask. Well, let's change that and put in a petition!

ps I don't know what time it would be around the world, but it probably wouldn't be hard to find out!
don't think you'll get much help on this forum.
Why would that be?
Please post responses on the family board. Thanks and God bless you all!!!!!
I'm counting on your support along with all the others who really need help.

because it seems that the 5 or so regular posters don't believe in god or a higher power, and are probably revolted by your post, which is fine. this is just a general board, i think created by some addiction professionals, not based on any particular program or principles. religion/god really turns some people off, even the watered down version of AA 12 step etc, maybe it is better that this remains a place where anyone can come, no matter what their higher power/god/religious view are.
Lois,
I would very much like to participate. I do have one specific request. A sweet 7 yr old boy I know named kaleb fell off a hayride & his head was crushed under the wheels. He is still clinging to his life & I hope you will pray he continues to improve.
I don't know about anyone else on this board but I definetly believe in God & all the blessings & miracles He has worked in my life. Thanks for inviting us to join you!

Hardcharger, I guess everyone has a place in time where they didn't believe in a higher power. It seems I have always believed, but went through times when I was very discouraged and skeptical. I know Jim Baker use to do it for me. He seemed so fake and just all about the money. However, I'm not like that and neither are the others who are concerned about our loved ones. We just want to come together as one to pray for each other and our loved ones. I hope we can pray for you and any others that you are concerned for.
AEA - I will copy your post to the family board to make sure your request for Kaleb is heard by the others. God bless you!

i do believe in the higher power, i have been the finance chairman for my church for four years, ha ha, how's that for a stoner position, and my wife is also very active. but church is a little different, our church is not full of dogma, united methodist, it is just a place where people recognize that there is a higher power, a god, jesus christ was an human incarnation of that god, and we come together, pray and respect that purpose.
I am not much into church dogma either. Jesus said he didn't like religiousity either. In fact, he called the Pharisees a bunch of white washed tombstones. I think that meant they looked good with all their piety, but were dead inside. Jesus was radical for his time. I think he still is if you get into him.
Is there anyone you would like us to pray for? Can we pray for you? Would you join us in prayer Friday night (10pmEastern)?
