I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with Vivitrol. It is a monthly shot from your doctor that is supposed to help people stop drinking. Thanks!!

I've heard of it and know people that used it. Good luck. It's my opinion that you still need to talk with folks about it so the "hidden" part of the obsession can be freed. After that it's easier to admit that you're not in control.
Thanks, I agree with you too. I was just wondering if anyone found it helpful. I know someone who just can't stop and instead of more repeated failures I was hoping I could help find him something that would at least help him cut down. Thanks.

I was prescribed Campral and Disulfiram (Antabuse) along with an anti-dep early on because I afforded myself a shrink. We;;, OF COURSE I was depressed--alcohol is a depressant and ENOUGH alcohol continuously will make anyone depressed!
Anyway, so I took the stuff to curb the ABILITY to drink (as long as I took the meds as prescribed), but not the desire. As with every other AA member, it wasn't until I'd tried EVERY thing within my power to stop (some multiple times expecting different results) and admitted that I was powerless over it, that true recovery had begun. And continues. And I still have "yets."
