Hey guys how are things? Hope u calmed down some Idgie lol. First of all thank you for the ongoing support. Well I did it . I met with my sponser and believe me after meeting with him and talking to him there isnt ANY doubts now that i need the help I'm seeking. Really admitting is tough . I have such a bad stomach and nervous feeling. It is all so scarey to me and before when anything scared me I always took a drink to calm my nerves. It's good to know I have you guys on here and I told my sponser about this site and the support i get on here. I wish you all the best and good luck and strength. and as my husband says CHIN UP SOLDIER !!!!! lol
Pirate that is absolutely fantastic!! I bet if feels good to make that step and meet your sponsor. You are well on your way girl!! Way to go and keep up the good work!
good for you pirate. That is excellent news. Did you get a Big Book yet? Highly recommend getting one ASAP esp for you as you don't have meetings close by.
I spent about 1.5 years going to meetings in my efforts to get sober and what I learnt there has helped me tremendously.
I am choosing not to go at the moment but I think its important in the beginning to go and learn if you can. AA is not for everyone, but you will never know that if you don't try it.
In the meantime the book is great and can be read over and over as new lessons to be learned in it all the time.
Its a great comfort to me to know that hose meeting are there if I decide I need them. I also have a list of numbers I can call if I get in trouble - i feel comforted knowing that.
Pirate would you mind telling us a little of your story so we can get to know you better? Only if you feel comfortable.
Have a great sober day!
Idgie
PS yes I am calmer today

You've just done the two toughest things in AA: Admitted you were powerless--and asked for help. Remember the HOW--Honest, Open, and Willing--and do what you're told. Welcome--and good luck on your journey to sobriety. Keep us posted on your progress!
