Alright..Sash,benzos are a group of prescibed drugs[benzodiapines]used to treat stress/anxiety/insomnia&a whole host of likewise symptoms. They are ,favorites like valium/temazepam/xanax/dalmane/mogodon....the list goes on .they have a calming effect, sedation etc.but should only be prescribed on a short term basis i.e 4/6wks.but with all things this does not happen&people can be on them[highly addictive by the way]for yrs.&coming off them can be one of the hardest battles anyone can face. For me after smack they were my next love i would gobble them big time.Bottom line is Sash they are a very dangerous&addictive group of meds.im off smack&benzos for 2mnth. now&although the call of heroin is still there its the tablets ive gotta watch out for.Anyway hope that putsthe Q? into a better light for you ...all the best...Davey
yeah that helps davey..i had an idea that it was something like that but wasnt sure and kept seeing the word benzo's on this site
my boyfriend takes Halcion (Triazolam) 0.25 mg..he isnt abusing them (i dont think) but takes ones every night, his doctor prescribed them for him about the same time as he started teking methadone i think a long time ago anyway
are these really hard to stop? he can sleep in the day without them...infact at night he often falls alseap and then wakes up after a couple of hours and takes the tablet, he says he gets nightmares when he doesnt take it..is this normal?
he is so tired all the time...but is this the methadone, he finds it so difficult to get up in the mornin and is sleepy often but then has insommnia as well.

Alright..Sash,i havnt taken the med. mentioned but would guess from the name that they are a benzo, the ium, lam, pam, etc.at the end of the names of benzos can usually be a give away to there chemical makeup.as for yer b/fs sleep pattern it sounds a bit unsteady,if he has been taking his meth.at the same time every day,he should not really feel to sleepy on it&hes been taking it for awhile so his body will become used to it,but having a kip during the day may be the reason why he cant get a full nights sleep.also he should try&take his tablet @the same time every night coz it will regulate the effect his brain is getting from it.If hes falling asleep at night as you said &then taking his tablet this maybe why he feels sleepy in the mornings.at the end of it sleep is always a problem for recovering addicts,as for the nightmares i can sympathize coz now im not taking my large cocktail of benzos i find it hard to sleep&do have nightmares or stressfull nights twisting&turning but hopefully within 3/6mnths i may get a full 8 hrs.coz it takes the brains bodyclock this long sometimes to get back to any type of normal pattern after taking a benzo for any long period.Again Sash no probs with the Qs yer b/f is lucky that you care&want to help&understand his probs. All the best ...Davey
Sashab halcyion is a sleeping pill. It is a Benzo --sorry-Will--Google it
.25 I believe is a low dose.
They are very addictive. Short term use-7-10 days. If you continue to take sleeping pills your body will become addicted eventually and then you have a problem.

well he has been taking them for well over a year, at a low dose will he sitll get withdrawel symptoms? to come off them is it smiliar to the methadone...reducing the dose little by little?
my bf takes 30 meth in the morn and then the rest in the afternoon about 2 o'clock..im not sure if the clinic knows this as the days he goes to give his urine they give heim the dose and so he takes it all at once in the mornin
he has a sleep in the afternoon cos we are in italy and so lunch time is at least 3 hours and they ahve the whole siesta life style...i useed to tlel him not to sleep in the afternnoon as i thought this would stop him sleeping at night..but then he is so tired he seems to need it.
his work is quite hard and he works long hours so think that also makes him tired
he said this morning that everyday he wakes up and feels like he has been out all night dancing and drinking and has a hangover adn thats why he find it hard to get up
will try and encourage to regulate the times at which he is taking the medications to try and regulate his body..thats a good idea esp the sleeping tablets as i dont think he takes them at the same time each night

Meth and benzos are VERY dangerous combo. The combo of Meth + Benzo gives the addict a heroin like buzz without having to shoot.
