This is Off Topic, but this Gray's Anatomy actor who called his coworker a degrading, backward, ugly name pertaining to his sexual orientation is all over the news.
Actually, I didn't think too, too much about it, but during the Golden Globes this dude pushed his way to the microphone and proclaimed he never called so and so a "F" word. I don't mean FAT either like Rosie O'Donell uses that "F" word for. Yeah, she's always right that Rosie.
So, I guess our friends here in Europe have not one clue of what I speak. An actor on this show which is mad popular in the US had called his co-worker the F word because he is gay. The guy is denying it. So then he busts in on a thank you speech when his show won some Golden Globe. Puts his big mouthed business right out there to the masses that he never called the guy a FA**OT. So he's saying it again.
Also the man doing the mouthing off is an African-American and people are saying if anyone called him any derogatory word relating to his race they'd be fired immediately. This cat ain't fired. Should he be? No? Thanks for partaking.
IMO......if it was a one time thing and he owned up to and at least made an attempt to make good I say give the man a chance but to interupt the show's head while at the mic(back stage) and use the word....AGAIN that show's that there are deeper issues regarding him and homosexuality. To go out of your way to be so vocal and going as low to use "backdoor(no pun intended...LOL)" labels show's(me)that within your heart exists hatred or fear of what you(he) really are under those bad words yet are to fearful to come out and face what you really are......people use those terms and hide them behind hatred because it keeps the spotlight off of themselves.....that F*& that he is calling everybody else may be what he was called as a child OR calls himself on a daily basis when he is all alone. The point that if he was called a N*&!$% or any other racist term by someone on the set is SO true and you can bet your last that they would have been delt with....and the thought of them doing it again would be banana's which makes me ask(as I have countless times) WHAT THE (____) WAS HE THINKING!?!?!?! So I say a BIG FAT YES to him being fired.

Name calling is bad, race, colour sexual orientation, fat, smackhead whatever trouble is punishing the act never ever changes anyone's views it only makes them say it quietly or in their heads. We are all of us racist or bigotted even those of us who think we aren't because we are all afraid of something outside our experiences. What is so awful now is people are afraid to admit that they are afraid so we have all this badness supressed.
Here we pretend we are multicultural, we aren't - gays get killed, black kids, white kids, asians. We have to educate this actor he should be sent on some education program. I have many gay friends some are as misguided about straights as this actor so in the tv and film world we have pockets of actors who get work because they are gay and employ only other gay people and pockets of actors who get employed because they are straight. I know which shows I can't work on, it's bad maybe this guy was feeling hard done to because he wasn't gay maybe he's just an a** hole anyone with common sense will ignore.

Now since I am an honest Injun and see there's a slur. Kansas City Chiefs? We're in a world that is so PC that it often goes overboard. People are afraid to open their mouths. They're afraid of the words that come out will be judged instantly as racist, sexist, or just plain backward.
So, to appease all minorities and I use appease because Poprah did and I most likely spelled it wrong people with European ancestors stopped sharing their culure and heritage. At least that's what folks my age did. They stopped being proud, and shuffled along, and now the post Danielle put.
So, that probably sounded mishmosh, and I ain't eloquent, and I can't be positive what she meant but I may have touched on it a little. If not I am sorry Danielle if I messed that up.

What amazes me is that one simple poll with one simple topic turned into race VS racism....with one simple post......correct me if I am wrong but it was ORIGINALLY about right VS wrong(with the piont of reference being the use of the F word....AGAIN)........right!?! While(as Jack touched on) people have the right(no matter to what range) to feel the way they do....... but to bring it THAT heavy takes it to another level....... of HATE........just look" under the post". IMO it(your question) veered way of course to hate highway 101 with one simple response. You asked a question not about black, white, pink, or orange people....you posted a question which only delt with the matter of what should be done with I.Washington.
