Im starting to get my appetite(sp) back, and am enjoying cooking dinners again. It's small joys like this i am learning to appreciate.Tonight we had broiled t-bone steaks, baked potato, sweet potato, and celery, cucumber w/hidden valley ranch dip,and a tall glass of ginger ale(tons of ice)it was delicious! I also made a vanilla pumpkin pie(made with the premade nilla wafer crust, pumpkin, vanilla pudding and coolwhip)not sure if i can find room to eat a piece tonight, lol, but looking forward to that too! I almost feel like my taste buds have come to life,is it possible that your taste buds could be numbed by pain pills?Anyway, what dinners have you all enjoyed tonight?~KIM
Wow Kim.. that's sounds delicious! Set a place for me. I'll be over shortly...LOL
Its 6:30 here, and I'm cooking dinner as we speak. We're having shrimp fettucine with alfredo sauce and crab cakes. Then its smores cookies for dessert. My kids wouldn't know how to act if we didn't have dessert.
As for the taste buds... mine have been wide awake since I got clean. I used to avoid eating to achieve a quicker high, and now I'm making up for three years worth of missed meals..LOL
Have a good night and enjoy the yummy food.

Denae,i LOVE shrimp, anyway you cook it! Of course i like it best breaded and fried(the most fattening way)lol...isnt it funny how we associated eating with our high,at first i felt i got more high on an empty stomach,so i never ate. Then i found that eating a little right after taking the pills made the high more intense,so i would always make sure i had something on hand to chase the pills(usually some type of fruit)and always had to have a bottle of water on hand for whenever i needed to pop a few. What we didnt "think" of to make sure we got the most out of our addiction, huh? Enjoy your dinner it sounds yummy!~KIM

OMG... Janet!!!!!! I want that recipe. When I worked at Emory in Atlanta, there was a retired military dude, that worked as a courier for the hospital. He made that one time in a crock pot and gave it to the folks in the pharmacy. It was sooo damn good. I have went through a couple of recipies, but none of them taste like his. Can you give me yours, so that I can try it? I would be oh so grateful.
Thanks,
DeNae
Thanks,
DeNae

Brand Name was HamBeens....they may sell it near you...and it is a wonderful recipe...matter of fact, i've been assigned to make it for our New Years party...
Thanks Janet. I will try that. Jeff won't eat any kind of bean, except for green beans. Right after we met, I cooked baby limas and he ate, maybe three beans, and then he got a kidney stone. To this day, he won't eat a bean. Swears it gave him the stone..What a dork..LOL.. But, me and the girls love beans and soups. Perfect time of the year for it.
Denae, I live outside of atlanta...but not to far... My Mother did her nurses training at emory, and yes it is a awesome hospital.. Funny I use to live about 20 min from the alabama line and moved here 5 years ago..
Paula,
Actually, we lived about 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta. I shoulda been more clear. We lived in Lawrenceville on Sweetwater Road. I loved the hospital, but it usually took me over an hour, one way, just to get there. The traffic there is horrendous. I've been to Boston, DC and through NY, but I have never seen traffic like there is in Atlanta. It scared the crap out of me. I saw a guy pull out a gun and wave it at the car in front of me, because he wouldn't yield. After that, I tried to find as many backroads as possible.. just to stay off of the interstate..LOL
