What Was Your Very First 8 Trac-strol Dn Memry Ln

I started this thread on another board and we have had some fun responses. A lot of the roads I have traveled down have not been so pleasant but the one called Memory Lane is not amoung them, especially if this trip was before my drug and alcohol days.

I was born in 1956. I had just made teenage status as the sixties came to a close. But even though I was an adolescent in those years I loved the music and still do. Listening to 60's Pop right now on comcast's Rhapsody Radio. When I turned 18 and got a Ford Pinto, which was kinda like having a Chevrolet Vega, I put an 8 trac player in it. Even though I was well into the seventies music by then, the very first 8 trac I bought was by a guy from the late 60's.
It was Gary Pucket and the Union Gap's Greatest Hits featuring, Lady Willpower, This Girl is a Woman Now and my favorite Young Girl, as well as others.

Take a stroll down memory lane and tell me please, what was the very first 8 trac you bought for your car.

For those of you that have no earthly idea what a 8 trac is or a Ford Pinto or Chevrolet Vega, please share your first cassette or CD. But I must say, you really missed out on a great period of time in the 'ol U S of A.

I don't remember my first 8 track tape...lol...I barely remember the 70s at all! If I was to guess I would say Aerosmith.
Jeese. I can't remember ALOT of that era. I know that the first 8-track I had was way before I had a car, though. Neil Diamond. I progressed to harder and harder rock (and stuff) after that.
From Wikipedia:
"1966. "Solitary Man" was his first hit on the music charts, and Diamond followed it with "Kentucky Woman," "Cherry, Cherry," and other hits. Diamond's Bang recordings were produced by legendary Brill Building songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, both of whom can be heard singing backgrounds on many of the tracks.

1970s
He moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1970, and signed a deal with MCA Records (then called Uni Records). His sound mellowed, with such songs as "Cracklin' Rosie", "Sweet Caroline" and the country-and-western tinged "Song Sung Blue". "Sweet Caroline" was Diamond's first major hit after his slump, and has since become a rallying cry of Red Sox Nation, however unlikely this may seem."

OMG...I saw this thread on the other board and it really was fun. I was born in 71 so I really don't have a reference. I do however remember my parents having a Jackson 5 8track. Too funny. You know if a few years all of the ipods and mp3's we use now will seem like 8tracks. It's crazy how time flys in technology.

Thanks for the fun post.
