I saw a client today, he had been in the hospital for the last few weeks, he was put in a taxi and sent home. Well, not his home, a room someone else rents. He can't walk and is in a very sad state, his friend is not helping him atall. I wanted to pick him up and bring him home. I am feeling so sad for him and I want to help him out, i realise this is a massive boundry issue for my job. Please help me, what would you do? I'm thinking of getting him a cheap second hand wheelchair and putting it outside his room, that way he won't know it's from me. Comments please and thankyou.

I belive in DO NO HARM to anyone. As for help "from experience" i will help anyone who i think is in acual need thru no fault of their own. If the needs are from their own stupidity, they are on their own. Help is a funny tricky thing. It's important to know when your helping vs. stoping someone from helping themself. Without more info i can't give solid advice on this one. If you feel it's important follow your gut it's usually RIGHT!.
I'm not sure that I should help him, funny, when you put your thoughts out there it seems to give clarity to them. He was in hospital because of drug use. he is a lovely guy. But by helping him to be mobile am I making things worse? I feel that since posting and having a bath and having a word with "the man upstairs" that I need to leave things as they are.
Thanks for the support though, i am really grateful that you answered.
Take care.

Zero Girl speaks wise words.
Brit, if it was me I'd have dug up a wheelchair by now.
That's not the right thing to do though...........and of course you can't bring him home..........you need your job...........in a round about way if he did pick up and something worse happens........that would hurt you forever thinking your gift of wheels played a part.
Sad to say I saw people out there in wheelchairs.......and people bed ridden getting dope delivered to them..........I feel bad for him too and I didn't even meet him, but Zero Girl she's right.
You have a good heart Brit.

Bryn, I know, you are both right, I'm just a big soft hearted fool! A year ago I would not have thought twice, I would have had him at my house tucked up in bed all warm and cozy. But I am really glad that I did not go with my first impulse. I am not there to help him get out to get more drugs and the wheelchair probably would have given him that capibility
Thank you both for responding, i really am glad that I have friends like you on the board

Find a wheel chair, but dont compromise your job over the situation.

hey man --i got kicked off twice--it said unavailble because the site was under maintenance--ok--whose being nast or cussin--shame shame--anyway--heres my opinion--you seem to have found your answert on your own--isnt it funny how when you write about something you see things and understand things you would never see or understand if you were speaking to someone else--also prayer does wonders for the soul and for the balance of your being--you dont even have to have a specific god or idol in mind itll still work--just give it up to someone or something else! if you can get ahold of a wheelchair and it wont bother your own finances any i would do it--hes gonna get his dope whether he has one or not--trust me the dealers will come to you to pick up your money!
Thanks everyone. i am going to look out for a wheelchair for him. But that will be it. I can't risk my job over it.
Again, thanks for being there for me.
