Okay I need some advice, I hope someone can help me. I just put my best friend in rehab this week for a heroin addiction I knew nothing about until Sunday. I am having a really hard time understanding the addiction and what to do now? I have not slept much this week b/c I can't stop thinking about her and how I can help her stay clean when she comes home. Can someone help
Don't beat yourself up about it only she can help herself, you can be there as a guiding light to health and sobriety but apart from that its down to her.

So what are the chances of a relapse? I don't want to force her in the wrong direction when she comes home. I know the recovery is ultimatly up to her but I would like to effectively support any way I can
One cant say mate. I was told that after my 14 year habit that as this was my first attempt at getting clean, realisticly I will relapse. I never did once and still havent. This was something that worried me - but so far I have beat those stats that say I would relapse.
In reality I don't think theres anything you can do it really is down to her, I've had so many people try to help me and I just lied and tricked them. Life's a b****, is she your girlfriend or just a mate? You could try moving somewhere new when she gets out but if my lifes any kind of gage she'll find drugs if she wants them. Sorry I can't be much help but at least if she stays in rehab she will be clean when she gets out.

Cheers Robbie - that was one of my biggest worries, that I had to relapse especially after the length of my using - never went before for more than a day without and that was down to not being able to get not by choice.
Looks grey outside Robbie - looks like we're gonna have a wet weekend - but a clean one boy.
Ain't it just great to be able to say that we are clean. It's weird but I still really find it hard to believe.
Have a good one and catch up soon. I'm not up to much this weekend - just chillin' and being thankful trhat I am here.

I don't know if I have spoken to you before. I am not an addict but my bf is trying to get clean. We have been going through this together for the last 2 years, and only now am I realising that HE has to do the work...that I can't force him or do it for him. Now that I have realised that, things are great. We no longer fight, he doesn't hide things from me. If he relapses he tells me straight up.
I now he is REALLY trying now and I know he CAN get through this. And I believe I will be here with him with each step that he takes. Can son of you email me...I would like to speak to other users or EX users.
I'll wait to hear from you all.
