Why Do You Celebrate Christmas?

Remember My Birthday?

As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated.

During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.

It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago.

At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration.

Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.

I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates.

The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts. But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited.

I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation. The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face ... and I wanted to be with them and share their table.

In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me. Since I was not invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner.

They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a great time. To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho!

He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying: "Santa Claus, Santa Claus" ... as if the party were in his honor!

At 12 midnight all the people began to hug each other; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug me and....do you know? No one hugged me.

Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me.

How would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one?

I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left. Every year it gets worse. People only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties and nobody remembers me.

I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you.

Today, I only want that you believe this with all you heart. I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party.

I'm still making the final arrangements. Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book.

Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party.

Those who don't answer the invitation will be left outside.

Do you know how you can answer this invitation?

It is by extending it to others whom you care for.

I'll be waiting for all of you to attend my party this year.

See you soon...

I love you!

-JESUS-

Hi Carol...Funny thing is...is that Jesus was not born on December 25th...Actually according to the events leading up to His birth would indicate that He was born sometime in the fall.

The early church decided to celebrate His birthday on December 25th,because they were losing people who celebrated a pagan holiday to one of the sun gods...I can't remeber which one at this time.

So today we have a large mix of traditions on Christmas...yah know...like what does a decorated evergreen tree have to do with Christ. The gift giving was a way for merchants to make extra money.

Try not to be upset with all the traditions that have been picked up along the way.My family always had a Christmas tree and we bought gifts and ate huge amounts of food from the 25th to the 1st.We also gave praise for the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Each of us celebrate Christmas differently.I choose not to put up a tree, but give gifts to my family. We get together a read certain passages from the gospels...mainly John.

Hope your Christmas is special!!!!!
Dear Jesus,

Dont be jealous of Santa...

Hes a jolly old soul....

Not everyone is taking the CHRIST

out of Christmas.

Hugs, from a

Believer in God..

AND Santa Claus,

Ali

P.S.

Why would Jesus have a: BY INVITATION ONLY party

when by your own admission,

he crashed a few himself,

and stood in the corner watching....

Hmmmm

I like to think that God does NOT exclude...

even struggling, alcoholics and addicts

will be invited...

But thats just my opinion.

Ali

Ali, The thing is, everyone is invited. He is saying the invitation is for everyone.......all who wish to participate, that is. You don't have to do or be anything special, just accept the invitation.
oh....Carol..im sorry honey...i must not have read it right..

will read again...

Glad to hear that....

thats the Jesus i know and love... :)

Hugs,

Ali
carol...
I sooo see the whole point and it is the truth I rant about every year... I make sure my daughter hears the story of the birth of Jesus from the bible actually she hears it twice at her dads and at my house... ( this year at my house she will read it to me with help... I am excited for this first..lol..) anyway... It is a sad commentary of our world to day that the little recitation has such a ring of truth to it.... I only hope that many heed the call and celebrate the event in a way pleasing.... those still suffering from addiction choose this time of year to have a clear head and seek recovery...

That is my Christmas wish...

Thanks for this post... Hope you are doing well..

Teresa
Thanks for sharing that Carol. I so get the point.
Carol... thank you for sharing that with us. It is so true. Growing up, before we ever opened presents one of the older members of the family would read out of the bible of when Christ was born. I remember those days just like they were yesterday. Now that i attend only my husband's family's Christmas... it's just not that way over there. I would like to do something like that again... but i would feel like i was intruding on their traditions. So, now i always read to Kaeden and explain to him what Christmas is all about. It's not the same as when i was growing up... but i want to instill at least a little of that in him. Love and God Bless,Bri :)

I am glad some of you enjoyed this, ladies. I try so hard to keep His spirit alive in our home during the season. It's so easy to get caught up in gift giving hoopla and all that.

I truly wish you all a blessed Christmas season, and a healthy, sober New Year.

Happy Holidays Carol,

Its been awhile, I miss you woman! Are you home tomorrow morning? Looks like its gonna be a snow day here, I'd love to get a phone call to you.

Awesome post.

Hey Amy! I MISS YOU, TOO! You and Jack are never far from my thoughts and always in my prayers.
I have to go in at 11 tomorrow morning. We could talk anytime between 8 and then! Looking forward to it!
Nighty-night!
Thank you Carol. I loved that.
It's amazing how many letters there are to the editor this year concerning Christ and Christmas. It's not just here in Colorado as my Mom said it's so in Indiana where she is too. We need to remember and keep Him there because there are many who'd like to remove His birth from the scene entirely.
Were you born in December? Just curious due to your name. :o)
Merry CHRISTmas
