Wife Is Addicted To Percocet

what a mess I am in. My wife of 10 years who happens to be a nurse is addicted to pain meds. She takes over 10 pills a day. They are 7.5/325 endocet, also Vicodin. she has multiple pharmacy's and doctors. She is also on probation for felony theft. My three daughters ages 8,6, 4 are suffreing as well with her anger and hitting. I am a police officer and fior the first time i am dealing with this from the other side of the fence. She has been ordered by her probation officer to have a drug eval, since she has tested positive for opiates. The counselor who will be doing the eval is helping me also with my co-dependency. I feel like my life is a mess. She thinks she has no problems at all. any help as far as input would be appreciated. I cannot cover for her anymore with keeping her out of trouble.
Hello, Tom. Please feel welcome to share here.

Check out the earlier posts on Detachment here -- they may help you - - and may provide you with some answers on how to react and respond to the situation that you are in.
Hey Tom,
I am sorry for all that you are going through......You can't cover for her and shouldn't.....that is enabling her. Is there anyway that you can get her into rehab, that would be her best chance.......Also does she even think she has a problem......You can't help her if she doesn't want help!
The first and most important thing are you and the kids......You have to take care of you, and protect your kids......She has to learn to take care of herself....There is something called the 3 C's you can't cure them, you didn't cause this and you have no control......One of the first things I learned.
Dealing with drug addiction in my family has been the hardest thing I have ever faced in my life, there are no easy answers and sometimes there are no answers......Keep posting and read this board especially about detactment and control.......and others stories as well. Amazing people grace this place on both side of the fence.....There is much to learn from all thier experiences.
Take care,
Tina
