My brother has come to us for help and says he wants to get off the heroin, about bloody time, he has been off the heroin since his mate died 3 weeks ago, well he took some 3 days after he died but he felt nothing but guilt when he took the stuff, he said he couldnt cry and he was emotion-less towards his mate which made him feel real bad that he had no feelings towards his dead mate, he hated that he said and that he wants to be clean and away from all his other mates.
He has deleted all the numbers off his phone where he could score drugs from too, he has stayed in and has currently got work and is making such an effort, but what is worrying me hes not ill or anything, my mum said he did have really bad tummy pains but apart from them hes fine, i thought cold turkey is terrible, he seems no different from normal, and surely if he was in detox he wouldnt be going out working and trying to sort himself out, to be honest i think hes trying to fool us again.
This evil drug is ruining all our lives not only his, what can we do, the answer is nothing i know, gotta just sit back and watch.
Hi, the acute stage of withdrawal is over in about a week. That's when you do all the puking and s***ting, and have all the crawling skin and spiders in the blood. Whenever I was withdrawing I used to sneeze a lot, and the sneezes would go on for a long time after the acute stage. Also, probably the worst part is the insomnia which can go on for months after coming off gear.
After 3 weeks, he would probably still feel quite delicate. Appetite is likely to be poor, strong smells and tastes would turn him queasy, sleep is also going to be suffering. One way you can tell if he's got opiates in his system is by looking at his eyes. If his pupils are tiny in dim light then it's a pretty safe bet that he's got heroin or some other opiate in his system.
It's a good sign if he's avoiding all his old mates and has got rid of all his numbers. Maybe he should change his sim card, coz although he might not be ringing people, they might still be calling him and putting temptation in his way.
Hope everything works out
love
Diff xx
