Withdrawal From Methadone

Hello folks,.....I just stumbled on this site and board and thought it looked interesting and helpful. I am currently taking 40 mils of methadone a day and trying to get off. My goal is to get down to 0 by Jan. 5th. Don't know how painful it will be, but plan to find out. I've CT'd from other things many times, but never methadone. If anyone can help or has a suggestion, please don't hesitate. I need all the help I can get!........Have a Merry Christmas all!
Hi Doggie,

I just was wondering how you are getting the Methadone in the first place. Some use it for pain, some use it for recovery, some get it off the street, etc....

I could maybe help you with some suggestions with this, I work closely with Methadone, and I am currently on it for both recovery, and pain issues. If you would rather get some info privately, you may email me, as I have tons of literature on this medication.

Dear Doggie,

I have had some experience with methadone for chronic pain. I was trying to think who would have great expertise, and then I saw the post from LadyM. She truly is an expert on methadone. To tell you the truth, she's quite an expert on many things. You are an amazing person, LadyM. How was your holiday?

Doggie - I'm glad that you stumbled upon this board. There are many members here always willing to offer help, support, and inspiration, e.g., LadyM. Everybody brings their own experiences with addiction, and that only compounds the help that can be offered.

Welcome to this forum, Doggie. I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ben

Ben,

Wow, thank you my friend. You and I share a common ground, and that is pain. You have to learn a whole new way of living in recovery with chronic pain. The message we share to others, it is possible to be in recovery, and handle pain. There are ways in which to cope. As for me being an expert, I would not go that far, but I have dedicated a large portion of my life, and time, to learning about the MMT programs, and ways to live with pain, and recovery. I suffered with a relapse not too long ago, and have spent time learning where I failed myself in that part of my journey.

I had a fantastic Christmas, I was here and alive to share it with family, and that makes it a wonderful holiday. That is the only important thing as far as I am concerned. Life is not always what we want it to be, but it is ours, and we need to make the best of it. I hope you spent your holiday with minimal pain, and had a blessed one. Thank you for your kind words, and your support, I really appreciate them. You are a really great guy yourself.

God Bless,
Lady M
