My aunt just called on my husband's cell - we still have dial up - she talked fast and she was flying with happines Hospital had just called her.
Her words:
I can't talk long, on my way to the hospital, Rick woke up, they say he can talk to me, he will be on the ventilator a couple of more days.
Pls tell the all of yur brohers, sister and aunt. I will call you later.
That was it but was enough for me. This is a true miracle. He was living minute to minute in a coma, on a ventilator, on dialysis, his organs were all failing.
Doctors said he had an infection in his blood but couldn't find how to treat.
They were giving him different stuff, trying anything b/c he's been on the ventilator almost a week so they weren't even giving my aunt and uncle hope.
They are in New Smyna Beach, FL - I just know that's 8 hours from me.
I hope no permanent damage to any organs - I wasn't going to burst her bubble - I asked nothing. I will call tomorrow if she doesn't call before then and let her tell me - she likes to tell me what's going on.
Will go now - I want to do this on phone calls to my brothers and sister and aunt (her sister) - it is so hard to believe.

I didn't get my brother in NC but I left a message.
We honestly thought it was over and now it sounds so good.
My s-in-law told me of my 2 oldest brother's HS friend - they have stayed friends through the years. We are all family friends. His wife already had a kidney transplant. This all started after the surgery that causing weight loss 10 years ago. Both kidneys shut down, she lost the weight but had to go on dialysis until she got a kidney. Now that kidney has stopped working and is doing damage while it is still inside of her and yet she is not responding to dialysis this time.
The doctors have to remove kidney tomorrow and keep doing the dialysis just b/c there's nothing else. She has a blood infection so they won't put her back on transplant list so it looks like tomorrow will be it, unless there is another miracle.
i hate to be gloom and doom again but if you will, just say a prayer. They have 2 children in their 20's. She (Rita) is only 54 - too young.
