Dear everyone,
I have talked to some of you and really appreciate your advice. Sometimes talking to a person in recovery from addiction is more truthful about it all than anyone else involved (family, friends, etc.). And knows more!
My ex went to jail last week for stealing/forging a check.
He didn't have enough crack on him (basically just paraphenalia) to charge him with possession. He is on parole for drug charges/theft.
I am just wondering what he will be facing, if any of you know.
I ask b/c he wants me to come visit him. I am extremely wary of this as I have finally started to recover from him, and I don't want to go and see him (give him a treat of seeing me!) too soon.
It has been a week that he has been off of crack / a month and a half off of heroin.
Is his brain even back to somewhat normal yet?
Love,
Shylah
I dont know how bad his heroin habit was,but it takes awhile for the brain to bet back to normal. Kickin while locked up it no picnic- but its one way that will get you clean- shi& you have no choice.
The key is once he gets out.
His record will dictate that date. IF he can get into some kind of recovery as soon as release he has a shot. Unfortunetly, most(not all) addicts I know- fall back into it as soon as they hit the streets.
Maybe a little help - a push in the right direction ,you can catch him right away because if he does get out anytime soon, the next time he fuc,s up sounds like it will be at least the 3erd. You start looking like a lost cause ,habitual affender to a judge and they start handing out long(unfair) bids- even for non-violent offences.
All the best

done 9mnth of a 12 mnth sentance for possesion with intent&did a taper off with some smack i had brought in.it will prob be 2/3 months before his head is any way together.dunno wot sentance he will get ,depends r u in the u.s or europe?.i am in ireland & i know mates with similar charges who got between 6mth to 3yr,so its up 2 the judge or whatever.i do know when i did my time a visit always boosted my outlook.after comin off the gear totally,i got fit, read &generally kept my head down[lots of smack in prisons 2].is he on remand? best of luck for u &him
alright jack..u are deff.right about the urge 2 use when u get out.wgen i got out i made a beeline 4 my dealer[or other dealers i had met in prison].a rehab would be great, over here most people coming out would be put on some sort of meth.programme if thats wot they want but that may take a month or 2.its a dangerous area coz lots of o.ds are ex prisoners who think they have some tolerance&go out &score sure u can guessthe outcome.i came out fit & clear headed but still went 4 a turn on &nearly o.d,its a hard one but that woz my 1st &last taste of H.M.P,THE VISITS R UP 2 U but as i said when someone made the effort 2 visit i was over the moon.take care ....davey
I am in the U.S.
I don't know what that means for him. I know it is easier to get Junk in PRISON than it is in JAIL, and he is in jail. The jails here don't allow much and I can't see it being too easy for him to score there. I understand prison - he always said it was easy in prison to get "gear." But, he is in jail - the county jail. Regardless, I was just wondering what he will probably face. It is looking like 6-9months, county. And no work release - he lost his job.
What is it like in jail?

over here jails- -a lot less freedoms and very overcrowed
prison- more freedoms, you can have a job, & (yes, easier to get drugs)
Most sentences over a year - you get a state number, under> you do county time
either way it sucks of course
