I don`t know what I`m trying to accomplish here or why I`m even here, but I was looking up on addictions & when I say "crystal meth" I just wanted to scream. I`m dating a guy; we`ll call him J ; & his dad S is on meth. He was clean for almost a year & after THAT long; he`s back on the s***. I absolutely hate it. J keeps it together so well, but I know it`s killing him to see his father do this to himself & J. It kills me to see it & he`s not my dad. He`s fried & he always will be. Buut, I just wish he would clean up. He says he feels better with druggies because he knows they aren`t laughing at him or making fun of him. & I tried to explain to him that no one else is either. & I just sat there trying to show him what it does to everyone that loves him. He was never on it until his wife left him; about 7 years ago; & he just can`t let her go. That is NO excuse; I understand it hurts, but it`s hurting everyone around him what he`s doing. I just wish there was something I could do. He just lost his jeep for the second time this week. So, he has no way of getting to the meth, so he`ll be clean for maybe a week, but when he gets the jeep back; he`ll be back at it. & I like I said; I don`t know what I came here for; I`ve just never let any of that out & this seemed like a good place.
Good luck to everyone. <3
W,
Addiction outweighs almost everything, it becomes more then human to addicts - more important then family and love. Addiction will always outweigh willpower too, S doesn't even have willpower, but if he did, that alone would not cure him. He needs something more. It's different for everyone. There's not much you can do that will help him to quit except helping him to find what he is looking for, a purpose in life that can lead him in a new direction.
All the best to all 3 of you
