hey guys and girls, this is a really good site and i've only been here 5 mins
you can kinda guess why i am here, so i'll get straight to the point
i've been smoking weed for around 5 years almost everyday i think the longest i went without was 2 and half weeks before i caved, and just reading some of these posts i'm not the only one, now as i've said so many times i'll just give up but we all know it doesn't work you can't beat coming home from work and having a cone or two but this must change its getting towards downhill both fincaially and my life seems to be based around this stuff at the moment and it shouldn't be like that i guess dunno can't really remeber what it was like 5 years ago
so anyway i've come here asking for some ideas on what i can do to keep my mind off it, keeping in mind i work shift work and really long hours and a sesh after night shift is always good so maybe there are some of you on here who have been in a similar situation, also have set a date 4 september day after farthers day
for a plant that grows in the ground its does horrible things to you without you realising damn it :)
regards lee
HI, Welcome,
I smoked weed everyday for 16 years. Later I started on cocaine and after three years was a complete junky.
When I went into recovery for cocaine, I also quit weed. Nearly 7 months now.
When I was using it seemed impossible not to smoke. I also bought the bulls*** it was mother natures herb blah blah. Its only after stopping that I realise how disconnected I was from everything around me.
I also struggled with stopping, because unlike the cocaine, weed was much more subtle in its effects and did not make my life as nrightmarish as the coke did. But I am so pleased to be off it.
How did I stop. Well I got rid of all my weed, plants, pipes, etc. Then I told all my smoking friends I quit, and wanted them to respect that. They did. Then I started to enjoy being less hazy, demotivated, emotionally disconnected.
I also went to na meetings for the coke, but that helped with giving up all drugs.
I would encourage you to stop. Life is so much better without.

welcome to the board. always good to see new comers joining us. my advice is to get rid of every thing related to smoking pot, avoid situations where others are doing so (at least for a while),find new things to do to keep yourself busy, drink lots of water, eat a good diet, get plenty of rest, and some exercise. your body will be going through a healing process and needs you to be gentle with it. good luck to you.

you might be surprised. i was when i passed first urine test after 30 days clean. and i smoked a lot, for a long time.

Ok people just thought i better give a quick update my end date the 1st went ok first day was soooo hard couldn't keep my mind of having a smoke but i managed too even when my friends were shoving it in my face
ok i'll just slip this in here, as someones post said tell all your friends you don't smoke anymore, well i can't do that as i have already abused their support along with my partners so when they hear i am giving up they just tend to go ok....... whatever so you see thats why i am here for your support as not many people believe me now when i say it but it has to come to an end and its soon really soon
anyway back to my story so the first day went ok hard but satisfying man i got heaps done i was so suprised got out for a bike ride which i hadn't done for a long time,
didn't sleep to well on friday night but thats ok but when i woke up i was crook as got the flu, now i'm sorry but when i'm sick i stay in bed get smashed and get better asap, finally back at work now just about over the flu and we'll try agian i might go for monday as thats when i start back at work (nothing like a 12 hour day to keep your mind off it)
so yeah i know i caved but i still have determination and it will end, and in saying that i have got rid of all my plants lights utensils etc and it helps so much with motivation that you guys put posts up saying how good you guys are feeling after only being off it for x days weeks etc
damn it i just realised i spelt my login name wrong what a fool :)
