Does this ever get better? I feel like im inprison in my own body. Still Shakey all the time foggy brain. Somtimes I feel like this is all a cruel joke. 34 years old and can't even function. Just 2 years ago I felt great.
It nice that I pickled my brain never able to heal. Maybe if someone else reads this that felt better after a month never to pick up a drink again. It gets alot worst I'm living proof of it. A 34 year old retard now all cuz drinking fried my brain. I close to say screw it and drink away. Wont last long though cuz my brain feels like its fried.
Doctor dont do much they say I'm healthy. How can i be healthy if i cant stop shaking and cant think.
I really want some one else to tell me they were this bad at 10 months off and did get better
I know this sounds like a crazy idea.
But what I do is drink my "medicine" 3 times a week. (no more than 2 drinks measured out at 1.5 ounces of 80% achohol per drink.)
Might not be an ideal solution, but was the best one I could come up with.
I used to drink a 1.75 a week ( or more) and now I drink less than a pint a week so I feel pretty good about that actually, in a harm reduction model atleast.
Not saying this is what YOU should do, just that it seems to be working for me so far.

P.S. you may want to do a google search on Harm Reduction to learn more about it.

Correction. 80 proof not 80 percent.
Actually, I had to ask my husband what the difference was.
Oh, yeah BTW I have never been to a Doctor over this so I am not mixing a barbituate with another barbitiate by doing this.
I haven't been to a doctor over this because I do not have much use for conventional medicine.
My philosophy about going to the doctor is: if all else fails, go to the doctor.
It sounds like it was good that I didn't go to a doctor cause they would have just put me on Avitan or Valuim anyway. Makes more sense really to do what I am doing with the moderating thing instead of just exchanging one addiction for another.

Hi Cailyn,RNVS,
I did go to the doc when I was trying to stop, I was given Naltrexone and Campral, I swear by these drugs as they have worked for me, I was a Heavy drinker like start drinking at mid morning and go through till 4am, that was when I had days off work, it was no problem for me to that, and then wake up a bit grogy and start again, I thought it normal to do that!
I had tried a zillion times to stop but always found another excuse not to, till one day I went to my doc and asked her to please help me!
I was only on them for a short time, they work by blocking something in your brain that makes you want to drink, I really dont know how but belive me here I am 1 yr and 2 weeks later still sober and that is without even a sip of alcohol in that time,
I still do feel like it at times but are now strong enough to say to my self dont be so bloody stupid!
I live in Australia and these drugs are Govt subserdised, (because they do work)
i dont know where you guys are, but you can look up them both on the net, maybe you can get them in your part of the world.
Take care Ginge

Here in America doctors give people barbiturates to try to help people with their barbiturate problem.
Doesn't make much sense actually.

I am sucessfully moderating without medication so at this time would not need any medication.
But I will keep it in mind should the need ever arise.
When I drink I do not go on binges, I have a few and stop.
