I've been clean 12 days today. About a month and a half ago I went through all the withdrawals & sh*t and then got right back on the pills.
THEN... On March 4th my 39 year old brother died from accidental overdose of oxy's, that was one hell of a wake up call.
So, now i've been clean for 12 days now. My back pain is unbearable, but I feel so good besides that. I guess still being in shock from my brothers death has helped me to deal with the reality of what these pills can do to a person.
He was standing here talking to me and two hours later I found him dead in his bed, I still can't believe it.
ANYONE TAKING OXY'S - IT'S NO JOKE. THESE THINGS WILL KILL YOU!!
In Oct. 2006, my childrens father, who was an iv drug user overdosed on them too. So in the last 6 months I've had 2 deaths in my family BECAUSE OF OXYCONTIN.
If your taking them, in any way, shape, or form. Get help NOW.
You may think it won't happen to you, but I bet my ex-husband and brother thought the same thing.
God Bless You All! Susan

Hey Susan:
Congratulations on 12 days! Thats awesome! I recently went 8 days, but then was back on. My doc is Lortab, which is so hard to quit, but I've heard Oxy is even harder to quit, so props to you. I'm so sorry to hear about your brother and your ex. These drugs steal so many lives. Ironically, I read they created Oxy because they thought it would be less addicting and safer than Hydrocodone. Wrong. I've also read the thought the same when they came up with synthetic codeine (lortab, etc) wrong again. Just curious, did you wean yourself off, or ct it? Are you going to any 12 step meetings or any thing like that? I wish you the best and please let us know your progress, it's very inspirering (sp)!!!!

When I originally went off it the first time I weaned myself off it, went off the oxy to percacet and just kept taking a lower and lower dose, but then started again, and then after my brother died and I went ct. Like I said I think I was in such shock from his death, that I felt the pain from withdrawals, but there was so much going on and I was so busy with things I had to do, that I just didn't notice the w/d's as bad. I don't know it's hard to explain.
I haven't been to any kind of meeting or anything. Every week I say i'm going, but something always comes up and I don't. My back pain is so bad right now, I want to go to the hospital to get some relief, but I know they'll just give me pain pills and it will start the whole thing over again, so I guess I just have to suffer.
Thanks for all your support!
