Being a housewife and mixing with all the mums that have a drink before you pick the kids up after you pick the kids up and the when you cook the meals makes 3 in the afternoon time difficult. Any strategies or advise on how to avoid, how to make a scene and how to stop not saying what the heck. Any advise would be great
hi housewife...i would love to give you a proper welcome to the board....
i'm not an alcoholic...but with drugs we need to change people, places and things...and seeing as the NA program sprouted from the AA program, i would say you need to do the same...
don't hang around these people if they are drinking....it can't be good for ya

Good morning Housewife, Congratulations on making the choice to give up!
I was a heavy drinker and are now just over 6 and a half mths without alcohol,
Your first name was kiwi? are you in NZ ?
I am a NZer living in Australia.
I was lucky over here the goverment put us drinkers that want to quit on medication that stops the cravings etc.
The best way for me in the first couple of mths was to stay away from my bar buddies, I just buried myself in work, took most of my spare drinking time off me,
In your case being a mum may not be able to do that, This website is great it really does help you relise that you are not alone in this battle, and if you read the posts you will find that they could be writting about you, our drinking generally cause,s the same problems, so dont go away stay on here! The people are friendly and good advice is given by all.
Well enough rambling from me, take one day at a time, take care

housewife you can do it - but i think its true you need some support network. i have tried a million times to quit on my own but doesn't last.
i'm active drinker now just controlling it - but i know when i get ready to quit can't do it alone. have to change old habits, get new ones to replace them and all that.
you've got the mindset to succeed so you're on the right path - gl to you.

I found I could not do it alone. I was a binge drinker. I could put it down for awhile but to think of putting it down forever really didn't fare well with me.
I went to my first AA meeting on St Patricks Day. I keep going back. From my first meeting I found that it gave me hope. I look forward to working the program. So if you think it would help it's worth a try.
You can do it. Wish you the best.
