I have never done this before, but need some help. I found this site a couple days ago. Today made up my mind to try it. I had been taking hydro 10/325 somewhere between 5-10/day for last 18 mos to 2 yrs. Finally had enough and quit 3 days ago. So far, sleeping has been the hardest, or lack there of. Wildest dreams I have ever had!!!! How much longer before I might start feeling better. Any advise would be appreciated.
did you quit today or 3 days ago
I quite 3 days ago.
k i see that now. we're in the same boat. i only have 3 days as of 3today. i would look at the other threads or boards for otc meds. i'm feeling pretty good.flush w/ lots of water & vitamims. go to the other boards i'm here if you need me.
Thank you I guess I did not realize how NOT alone I was. All this time I thought this was a problem only I had. After looking at this board, at least I am not the only one with this kind of problem.
Is quiting ct on your own a doable deal, or am i kidding myself.

Tryingonmyown,
Welcome to the board.. Congrats on Day # 3. That is a big deal. Try and focus just on today. Take it hour by hour and you will make it. I have been through several hydro (vicodin/Lortab withdrawls. Most of the physical symptoms should be gone by Day # 10. You may still have some lack of energy but exercise and vitamins should help that a great deal. Drink as much water as possible or even goldenseal to clean out your system.Do not take Goldenseal if you have a bleeding disorder or high blood pressure. It can help with diarrhea and will boost you immune system.
OTC medications should help ease your pain such as:
Motrin 800mgs
Comtrex Cold and Flu(or any Flu therapy meds)
Benadryl is great for sleep(25mgs usally does the trcik for me.
Vitamins and B-12
Good Luck, you can do this. It won't be long til your natural energy comes back and you are feeling better! Rae

Trying, days 3-5 were the hardest for me.... so if that's the case with you, you are already halfway there. Rae is right - around day 10 to 14, you should start feeling a lot better, though it may take a while for the fatigue & insomnia to completely go away.
Take a multivitamin & drink plenty of water.... you'll be surprised at how much that helps.
Make sure you eat to keep your energy up.
Exercise will also give your system a boost..... even a walk every day will help a lot.
Sleep is important..... I'm on sub now, but when I quit cold turkey last year, I felt horrible for three weeks, mainly because I was not getting more than 1-3 hours of sleep a night. I was so fatigued - I would walk from the bed to the kitchen & have to sit down (I hadn't felt like that since my son was a newborn). So I started taking something for sleep (a lot of people swear by Benadryl, but I prefer ambien) and, almost overnight, I started feeling 100% better. Once I started getting rest, my immune system got stronger, I had more energy, & my fatigue faded away......
You're doing great so far!

Sometime you have to take one hour at a time. I had to. I wrote down every hour on a pad and checked the hours off one by one. Did that for the first couple of days. It really helped.
