Hello! I have a lady friend that was heavily addicted to xanax.
She is now on .5 mg of clonanzepam, klonapin. She wants to stop, but will she have withdrawl symptoms?
Thanks in advance.

kerry all i can say is that i was on xanax for a long time...and it took me about a yr no joke to get off as i was high amounts. i tapered slowly, my advice is to never, never, never go cold turkey with a benzo, u can have seizures as i did in the past and u will be more comfortable with less withdrawal symptoms with a longer taper. she should ask her doctor to help her do it, as i did. i just see this as the best way to go about it!!
good luck to u and ur friend!!!

Yes she will have withdrawals coming off of kloinpin. It is a nenzo just longer acting and not as addictive as xanax but there are withdrawals when coming off of any benzo. So please tell her to talk to her doctor about coming off of it. .5 milligrams is not alot but how many times a day does she take it? April
Kerry Her doctor who presrcibes the klonopin should be able to give her a weaning schedule. Benzo's can be very dangerous to just stop C/T. Even a small amount like .5 as she may be taking it 2-3 times a day?
